You're confusing CFR and IFR.
First of all there will be large proportion that are actually immune either from prior infections or vaccination so they won't be infected.
Of those that are infected only a small proportion actually become cases. Most won't even know that they are sick.
Finally hospitals are regularly overwhelmed in winter in many countries so that is just part and parcel of life.
