All PAP ministers work their butts off in order to improve the lives of Singaporeans and they deserve whatever perks are extended to them.

They make major sacrifices in order to serve the public. If they were in the private sector they'd be making 10x what they earn now.
FUCK YOU!

I am with you on this, like the Prophet who worked off his butt to serve the cause of islam. As you have pointed out, the prophet deserves to enjoy many women instead of 4.

1. Arbitrage trading is a LEGAL financial activity in Singapore, & is a term mostly used with stocks & shares. In terms of properties, it means renting out a property & using the funds from rentals to either buy or rent another shelter. Most property owners are doing such, eg- rent out their condos, then rent a smaller HDB unit to enjoy the difference in rental income from their condos. It is a common financial activity & legal in Singapore, or else all property owners including our property tycoons, would be living in Changi Prison today.

2.
The 2005 code of conduct for Ministers is a good legislated law. However such laws attempts to be wide scoop, to cover as much ground & situations as possible, but eventually only leaves ambiguity, subject to different interpretations & misinterpretations, eventually requiring the Judiciary - whom do not make laws but to interpret laws - to unravel it based upon specific situations.

Based upon the current situation - had the Minister of Law whose role is very well defined - broken any laws for his own benefit in the course of his duty in the rental of the 4 yrs vacant property, or broken any laws in his handling of his own private property? Property laws are very well defined & is across the board for ALL. Had he changed or altered any law for his own benefit? None, or else all property transactions would be in chaos today.

Had the Minister of Foreign Affairs whose role too is very well defined - broken any laws in the course of his duty as a foreign minister in the rental of the vacant property that was available? None.

3. Equally, the 2005 code of conduct law if applied as it is, it will mean EVERYONE - from the PM to the lowest civil servant, including their families & loved ones - MUST NOT be allowed to buy, sell or rent properties during the term of civil service. Most Singaporeans are property owners or soon to be in the process awaiting for BTO flats. Although they work in different ministries, they are the ones whom are often closest to their superiors right up to the PM himself, as being close to such powers, in the course of their duty, may get 1st hand knowledge in matters that relates to property which can be beneficial even financially.

Is this what the Opposition wants by using such a law - to deprive our thousands of civil servants, their families & loved ones, the opportunity in honest property dealings, even if they are far & remote from National property plans, but just because of close association?
