The inevitable finally happens!

It's about providing choices. Many enjoy the Casinos without messing up their lives so there is no reason why the govt should deprive such people of the opportunity to gamble. After all, prostitution has been legal since day one.

I have to agree with you. What we have been arguing in this forum is choice or no choice.

In fact, they should just remove the $100 entry. It does nothing to deter people who will mess up their life but it robs those who don't of this additional choice of entertainment.

Now the only people who will not mess up their life and enjoy this choice of entertainment are the rich to whom the $100 entry, or $2000 membership is not a deterrent. Ask those with a lot of money who frequent these places. Are they there just for the money? No. For the fun, the opportunity to move large amounts of money with a mere click of a finger, something they have been doing in real life but at a slower pace.

Bro TV, this will one day tear the whole social fabric of our society. :(

No lah. Mind you loansharking is illegal. Theoretically the borrowers don't have to honour their loans. If sufficient borrowers understand this, the loan sharks will run out of business in no time. And with no easy source of funds, the people will have lesser means to make themselves messy.

I see, need to get worse before it can get any better.

I always like to play the Devil's Advocate but this time, it is for real. The real reason why the $100 entry was imposed was not to prevent people who could potentially mess up their lives from entering the casinos (this amount of money wouldn't deter the real gamblers, only the sightseers). It was done to appease those people who have objection to the casinos by taking some token action. We know it is just wayang.

The sad part is both evil setup do not create much employment for local Singaporeans.

This is one area the govt is underperforming badly. We are desperate to have the casinos up and running early that emigration objectives can be bent at the request of the operators.

Now that the casinos are up and running and they are making tons of money for themselves and money for the Govt (mind you, not just corporate taxes but also gambling taxes -even if the casinos do not make money, there are taxes to collect), the Govt should tighten the noose on foreign labour.

Of course there is a need for a strong political will and a decision to be made between self-preservation and interest of the people. Let's say the Govt is changed, wouldn't the new Govt have an easier task to undertake this?

With the change, at least there is an opportunity for it to be so.

The 超级白 are too self serving. It will never happen so long as they are around.

Of course it is wayang. It is also a good money generator for his wife to gamble away too.

There is no licence for loansharking. Any other loan licences must come under strict lending regulations.

Yes I know. Thats why I put this "" sign.

Then again, nothing is impossible. They can always bend / change / amend the rules to make things happen.

It happened before and will happen again. Remember the case of battery driven bicycle? Why they ban it in the early or mid 90s. And why they allowing it again?

All at their whims & fancy.

The increase in loansharking case should have been a clear indicate that something was going very wrong.

Ah Long was already a sunset industry....pappies help them become a growth industry again.
Even helping them become leegalized....but illegal loansharks flourish together with the leegal ones.

Then the day came and the truth finally dawned.

When the people of Singapore ouldl hear the whole truth from the vipers mouth.

The whole world will watch in awe.

As the whole truth is vomitted in public.
