The FC-1 Xiaolong takes to the skies

The FC-1 Xiaolong (Fighter China-1 Fierce Dragon), or JF-17 Thunder (Joint Fighter-17 Thunder) give its first aerial display in the Middle East on November 13, 2011, during the 12th Dubai International Airshow in the United Arab Emirates. The FC-1/JF-17 was jointly developed by China and Pakistan after an agreement in 1999 to meet Pakistan Air Force's requirement of an affordable combat aircraft. The first JF-17 squadron was introduced into the Pakistan Air Force in 2010 while China was still evaluating the fighter. According to Pakistan's defense minister, the country is selling the aircraft at 1/3 the price of one F-16 to compete with western rivals. One JF-17 crashed on November 14 during a training mission in a mountain area in Pakistan.

I cannot imagine a worse combination.

China currently cannot make an efficient and reliable jet engine. It may sound strange but there are only 4 to 5 countries in the world that have the ability to make efficient and reliable jet engines. Without turbine technology, Chinese have no way to efficiently power their ships and future carriers.

Most of these JF fighters are powered by Russian engines. And the Russians can thus control how many of these jets are made.

chinese can make things but emphasis on quality is poor.

this plane probably weighs 3 times more than an F16

and reliability is probably one third of it.

that is why the price is always one third.

asians mentality of placing emphasis one external rather than also including instrinsic values has to go.

Who knows, on closer examination of the plane, you might find a go-kart engine inside with fake pilot dummy controls which has knobs and buttons that just light up when you press it! LOL

Hey, your last statement sounds like it happens on a tiny island state called Sinkland!

Fake facade as well as fake values.

WAY TO GO! LOL

China got a man into space liao....what is a fighter jet?
Though their technology maybe 50 years behind....they are slowly but surely getting there.
Dun bash china anymore lest the PRC lovers will come in to call you racists!
中国万岁!

the pakis got RD33 while the PRCs using their own clone of it. Yes it's suprising that while the PRCs can send men to space, they can't make decent jet engines yet. All those years of reverse engineering and still 4th generation jet engines :D

rocket science is mainly chemistry and engine is mainly metalogy.

It will probably overheat even before reaching the enemy line.
