Bigger loser is TT and TKL
TT getting 50% consider bad, anything less than 40% is worst should no qualify as President( because have PAP support but getting less than 40%)
TKL less than 10% is consider bad performance.
TJS about 25% vote consider not winning/losing- performance is par
The biggest winner is TCB. Anything more than 30% is consider WIN

democracy. it shows that nothing is fair and balanced as you ideally think it is. the whole shhbang is gamed favorably for whoever is in control of the entire process...a reason why casinos have such a thing as a house advantage. the only event a casino fears is a freak event, when something is outside its comfort zone and out of its influence and control, such as math wizards figuring out the odds and outsmarting the house with patience and a long deliberate series of deceptive gamesmanship never seen before by the casino.

Why GMS. I see that others feel TT will always be remembered for being a minority president, TJS for helping TT and TKL for losing deposit. GMS is nowhere. In fact some are angrier with the once-popular Nicole Seah. TCB on the other hand was seen to be a winner.

Goh Meng Seng can still be a contributor to the opposition scene. True, he has a pig brain, a bloated ego. But he has not, and will not, cause the kind of destruction that some folks in the past have. His pol acumen is not zero. He is quite astute actually. We perceive it as zero (negative sometimes) because his ego gets in the way and blinds him to everything else but his own viewpoint. That is his biggest flaw.
What GMS can do is to let Hazel run the show and be a good workhorse behind the scenes. That is already much more than the many armchair critics that fill the opposition ranks who expect others to do all the dirty hard labour for them while they focus on personal media glory (think James Gomez, for example).

GMS's problem is mistaking obstinacy for resolve and understanding the meaning of loyalty. These two attributes have clouded his judgement and blurred his sense of political acumen.
He should not pay to much respect to or place a premium on value on older politicians. Honest, sincere, god fearing are excellent attributes in most scheme of things. However in politics, capturing votes is key. All the signs were there where TKL was concerned but he ignored it. Too much respect and to much of loyalty.
He has done much for local politics and did very well in bringing talents, reducing Mah's margin by double digit figures, crossing the racial divide and interacting with the common man in the net. Not something that many of us can claim.
Unfortunately this association with TKL might have cost him a lot.

On my part, I could safely say that my political acumen in assessing the possibilities are not quite far apart. All scenarios, possibilities and positioning have been given out. With due respect, TKL has chosen to fight on like a warrior though with the understanding that winning maybe a remote possibility. There are reasons and considerations he has made. But he fought and face ruthless defeat. He is a warrior because I think not many people can handle such defeat so well with such a quick recovery.
Most importantly, he walks the talk, has gone into post mortem mode to understand why he lost so badly to learn from this experience. I guess most people, if faced with such defeat, wouldn't have the mind to bother about anything else, least post mortem. This is the kind of positive attitude he truly believes in and promote.
Personally, I started out with the clear understanding that I don't have anything to gain from this PE by helping TKL. Well, anything to lose, I don't think so as well. Whether it cost me anything or not, politically, I don't really bother. So far, most of the people I meet, many of them may not have voted TKL but they are quite positive of my involvement in helping TKL.
Although TKL lost badly but the truth is, as pointed out by many others on the blogs, TKL is an electable choice who is being considered by the middle ground voters, even though put at second choice or basically sacrificed at the very last minute. People were talking about tactical voting, strategic voting or whatsoever about trying not to let Tony Tan wins. TKL became the sacrificial lamb in the end.
The campaign and messaging are quite alright, even other candidates try to micmick eventually. He fought a good fight but his lack of political branding and support base have cost him dearly.

Yet he did so badly. He is just not electable. He does not have it. I would love to compete in figure skating with my colourful tutu and take on Kristi Yamaguchi in the Olympics. But my family and friends told me that I can't make it without going into details. I took their advice.
