Thailand just needs 5-6 years to dig the Thai Canal

As previously mentioned, another shipping alternative is the Funan Techo Canal in Cambodia. This project involves excavation work, which has already commenced and is expected to be completed by 2028.

The funan canal is a miniature canal just big enough for barges.
Its being built because Vietnam sometime prohibit shipping into phnom pehn.
Instead of a canal, a teo track railway line will also fit the purpose.
Building the canal may divert mekong waters away from Vietnam. Which may cause some issues.

The biggest problem is not digging the canal. It's the Muslim rebels who can use the canal as a boundary to fight the Thai army. The canal make natural fence for defense

Thailand can declare land south of canal as free trade zone but under thai jurisdiction. Asean version of Schengen. No need passport to enter. But if cross canal to north will Need passport. This will give autonomy and freedom the separatist desire.
