Thai nationals invade Beach Rd: They get drunk, pee and set up illegal food stalls

STOMPer Aaron is appalled that his neighbourhood, Beach Road HDB estate has turned into 'Little Thailand' every weekend, with these Thai nationals setting up illegal food stalls, having picnics and leaving their trash and excrement everywhere.

Said the STOMPer:

"I have a shocking discovery about my neighbourhood in Singapore, Beach Road HDB estate.

"Apparently, for a 3-room HDB flat in Beach Road, the cost is about SGD450,000 and the rental is about SGD2,300 per month. Property agents claim reasons such as Beach Road being a 'central location' in Singapore. Little do the general public and tourists know about the filth that surrounds this estate until they reside here.

"Beach Road HDB estate is also neighbour to Immigration and Checkpoints Authority Singapore, the Raffles Hotel and SUNTEC Convention Centre.

"During weekends, locally-employed Thai nationals practically take over the entire neighbourhood and leave their trash and excrement everywhere.

"These Thai nationals would bring their mats to have a picnic in the neighbourhood.

"Illegal mobile food stalls are also set up by the Thai nationals as the shops are closed on every Sunday.

"The contracted HDB foreign cleaners are understaffed, undertrained and playful. Even rubbish collection centre in the estate is surrounded by trash, dried leaves and broken furniture which make it an ideal dengue breeding ground.

"Law enforcers do nothing and only give attention to complaints, conveniently.

"These pictures depict their own story with visible scars, it's time to share this Singapore shame with everyone you know."

Another STOMPer Delvin wrote:

"I'm not adding salt to the wounds. I have been staying in Beach Road for the past 20 years.

"The Thai workers would go to the second level landing to eat, drink and pee all over the place. Some of them were drunk and some were having a good time. They also made a lot of noise. They even sleep overnight.

"The authority has apparently engaged a Certis Cisco officer to prowl around the areas but I think it is a waste of the tax payers' money as nothing has been changed so far.

"Lastly, I hope NEA will do something to the illegal hawkers and check those shops (not coffee shops) to see if they have the license to sell cooked food.

"As a resident who have been staying for many years in Beach Road, I hope we can have a nice and peaceful environment to stay in."

Worse than JB?

This is called Thai culture for the Stompers. When I'm free I'd join them for a good round of garden or playground pinic in Beach Road. Most of the Beach Road neighbourhood shops rely on them for business. Otherwise, what are gardens and playgrounds for? They buy their ingredients to cook at home, then bring down, or for simpler fruit or veggie, simply buy and prepare there and then. They just like to outdoor gathering atmosphere and share among the neighbourhood and community. It's like pot luck pinic. There's no such thing as illegal hawking, in which the sole purpose is to hawk food for profit without licence.

Pinkies thinks you are "Self-Centred"

In an interview at the end of the 20th Asean Summit in Phnom Penh, he raised his concerns about these two trends.

A 'self-centred' Not-In-My-Backyard syndrome that has been increasingly seen among some vocal Singaporeans,
and what appears to be a growing gap between Singaporeans and new immigrants.

Above is a very good example of your self-centred syndrome ... complaining and taking photos of our FTs enjoying OUR HOSPITALITY!
Instead, you should welcome them with open arms and organized "water festival" to make them feel even more at home!

OK, Let's move on ...

PAP intend is crystal clear.

They create an atmosphere to intervene and take possession of this prime property. In the old days PAP set fire to evict kampong folks.Today they do it differently.

Because all it takes is 2 poodles on the beat to shoo the Thais away and the cleaning contractor a strict waring by the town council to claen up the place. No big deal.

This place is marked for eviction under the name of upgrading.

It happens to all HDB estates sitting on prime properties.

Poor Thais are doing the PAP dirty works free of charge.

A Chinese saying goes, "If you wish to beat the dog, you must be mindful of its master."

Do you honestly think PAP govt or the Sinkie poodles dare cross Thailand?

Singapore needs Thailand many, many times more than Thailand needs Singapore.

Really? The Beach Road area is going to be the next unfortunate victim of the Land Acquisition Act?

pity the residents who have to put up with the nonsense -- town council cannot do anything?

Thailand is one of the most colour-tinted countries in the world. 90% of Thais have skin tones darker than Chinese but 100% of Thai politicians and entertainment celebrities have skin tones comparable or fairer than Chinese. The other neighbouring country sharing the same symptom is the Philippines.
