FOUR teenagers allegedly linked to gang activities were arrested early on Saturday morning at a chalet. Choppers were also found. The teens, aged between 14 and 18, included two girls. They had been invited to the Costa Sands Resort in Pasir Ris by friends. Two choppers were found by officers checking on the chalets at about midnight. A police statement said the weapons were found under a boy's shirt and inside a girl's handbag.

The four will be charged with carrying or consorting with people with offensive weapons. The offence carries a jail term of up to three years and at least six lashes of the cane. Bedok Police Division commander Teo Chun Ching said that young people will not be treated lightly 'simply because of their age'. The police will deal with all forms of gang behaviour firmly, he added.

AS ONE of the four teenagers arrested on Saturday at the Pasir Ris Costa Sands Chalet for possession of two choppers is not yet 16 years old, she was charged in the juvenile court. In a district court less than 100m away on Sunday, her three older friends were having similar charges read to them by the Malay interpreter.

Muhammad Faiz Muhammad Effendi, 19, is alleged to have a kitchen chopper hidden under his shirt that Saturday while Nurul Aisyah Osman had another chopper hidden in her handbag. Both are aged 18. Also charged was Azad Khan Azlan, 17. He and the underage friend were charged with consorting with persons armed with dangerous weapons. All are believed to be involved in gang activities.

ONE of the four teenagers arrested over alleged possession of choppers last Saturday at the Costa Sands Resort in Pasir Ris is not yet 16, so she was charged in the juvenile court yesterday. In a district court less than 100m away, her three older friends were having similar charges read to them. Muhammad Faiz Muhammad Effendi is alleged to have had a kitchen chopper hidden under his shirt on Saturday.

Nurul Aisyah Osman is accused of having hidden a second chopper in her handbag. Both are 18. He is waiting to serve national service and she works part-time as a sales assistant. A TEENAGE girl found in possession of a chopper at Costa Sands Pasir Ris was sentenced to reformative training on Monday.

Nurul Aisyah Osman alias Siti Nur Janah Osman, 18, was found with the offensive weapon at the chalet on Nov 13 last year, shortly after her release from a nine-week imprisonment for theft.

She had pleaded guilty to the possession as well as stealing a laptop and laptop pouch worth a total of $1,407 from her mother on Dec 12.

A Community Court heard that Nurul was with her boyfriend, Muhammad Faiz Muhammad Effendi, 18, and two others on Nov 12 when her boyfriend invited them to stay with his cousin at the Pasir Ris Close chalet.

Before leaving, Faiz handed a chopper to Nurul and asked her to keep it in her handbag. He then tucked another chopper underneath his long-sleeve shirt.

The next evening, a party of police officers was conducting a routine check when they found the two choppers.

Probation had not been recommended for Nurul. Her boyfriend was sentenced to reformative training last month while another 17-year-old was placed on probation.
