Taxi molest case: Cabby pays girl $1,200, avoids jail
He had originally been accused of locking up a teenage girl in his taxi before molesting her.
But that charge was later amended to two less serious charges.
Mr Leow Hock Soon, 62, had been accused of touching the then-18-year-old girl’s private parts and kissing her right breast, while he held her locked in his taxi, at Woodlands Industrial Park E9 at around 11am on Sept 27, 2010.
If he had been convicted of that offence, he could have been jailed up to 10 years.
Yesterday, the taxi driver walked out of court a free man when the two lesser charges were compounded after he settled the matter with the girl and paid her $1,200 compensation.
