STOMPer Gina is upset with a taxi driver who slowed down for her, but changed his mind and drove away when he noticed she had flagged him for an elderly woman in a wheelchair.
She said in her email:
"This morning I was waiting for cab and before me, there was a maid with an elderly lady in a wheelchair trying to get a cab as well.
"From a distance I saw a blue comfort cab (Green - free for hire).
"I flagged it so the ladies could take the cab first.
"The cab slowed down and stopped in front of me as I signalled him to wait for a while, and pointed the wheel chair lady to him, expecting him to come out and help her into the cab at least.
"However, to our dismay, when he saw the lady in the wheelchair, he immediately turned away and drove down only to stop a few meters away to pick up a young lady, whom just step into the nearby bus stop!
"Still shocked and saddened by the situation, the elderly lady looked at me, as if embarrassed by the situation and told me to get a cab on my own and let them be, as if she felt its was her fault to be in bound in a wheel chair.
There was no reason for him to turn away and drove off, he did stop for me at first and i witness him looking at the wheeled chair lady and obviously turned away.
"Discrimination. I am utterly disgusted by his actions, and shocked by his defiance to the service quality he has projected on himself and the company.
"What if this happens to your mum, sis or grandmother?
"I’m very affected by this incident, it worries me that such things could happen again to my love ones.
"I hope LTA will take action and explain why such service can happen and how can the company hire such a person to represent your company."
