I think we should import 100 PRC drivers and provide some competition. This will lower taxi fares and improve taxi availability.

China national in Budget Terminal tragedy faces 3 new traffic charges

A Chinese national facing a robbery with hurt charge was charged on Friday with causing the death of a cleaning supervisor through dangerous driving at Budget Terminal.

Yuan Zhenghua, 30, a technician, was charged last Sunday with punching cabby Yeow Chuwee Lam on the back and strangling the 57-year-old while robbing him of the Citicab taxi at Airport Boulevard at about 6.50am last Saturday.

The three fresh charges state that he drove dangerously by causing the taxi to veer from the road onto the pavement at a fast speed before hitting cleaning supervisor Chandra Mogan Panjanathan, 34, and a traffic light pole.

The incident resulted in the death of the Malaysian father of four, who was operating a cleaning machine in front of Budget Terminal departure hall at the time.

The taxi companies can raise fares due to the demand given the present supply dynamics.
If the taxi drivers are more productive, it will shift the dynamics and result in a win win win situation for consumers, taxi companies and general driving public with lower fares, better services and lower COEs.

SBS had been mowing down people even before there were any PRCs driving buses here.
Had there been no PRCs driving our buses, fares would have gone up even more.

Let me tell you what a taxi driver told me. Some highly educated dumbfuck in Comfort/Delgro came out with the revised fare structure that includes a 22 cents per fixed length of travel. That's just a small problem. He just accepted the final fare to the lower ten cents that is if it comes to $7.99, he'll collect $7.90. Small compromise.

But when it comes to a current (immediate need) call for a taxi, the revised fare is $2.30 instead of $2.80 ( a difference of 50 cents) of which 30 cents is deducted as commision/service charge from the taxi driver.

And Comfort/Delgro had been coming up with ways to free themselves from having to maintain a high cost call center by introducing SMS bookings as well as smartphone applications that depends on GPS to show the location of the customer which more often than not turns out to be highly inaccurate. He said he had been fucked more than once for waiting outside a private residential property when the customer was actually 100 meters away behind it. And the driver got all this by accepting an assignment when he was two kilometers away. sped up and incurs the wrath of other private car driver earning an enhanced reputation. That driver said he don't accept taxi bookings anymore.
