From edmw:

A rather major accident this morning at the Budget Terminal. I was eating at McD when it happened, and didn't see the collision firsthand.

The traffic light junction was ripped out of the ground, glass shattered into the terminal, and the taxi passenger appeared disoriented - bleeding from the head, yelling, and for a while was trying to get his luggage out of the trunk. The little buggy the taxi collided with was totaled. Power was shut off from the traffic light junction, which in turn turned off power to the entry/exit gantries to the carpark for about 20-30 minutes.

Man dies after being hit by taxi allegedly driven by passenger - Channel NewsAsia

SINGAPORE: A cleaner at Budget Terminal died after he was hit by a taxi allegedly driven by a passenger on Saturday morning.

Police have arrested the suspect, who's a 30-year-old China national.

They said they received a call at about 6.50am on Saturday, saying there was a dispute between a CityCab driver and his passenger.

Police said the caller reported that a passenger had allegedly assaulted a 57-year-old taxi driver at the road side along the stretch of Airport Boulevard, in front of SATS In-flight Catering Centre 1.

Witnesses said both the passenger and driver were seen arguing.

The passenger was then seen getting into the taxi and driving towards the direction of the Budget Terminal.

Police said moments later, the same taxi was involved in a traffic accident when it hit a 34-year-old cleaner at the driveway in front of the Budget Terminal.

The man, who worked for Chye Thiam Maintenance, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 7.13am.

Responding to media queries, ComfortDelGro, which operates CityCab taxis, said its driver picked up the passenger early on Saturday morning.

Its spokesperson Tammy Tan said that halfway through the journey towards the airport, the passenger allegedly started getting violent.

It said the driver stopped the cab, activated the distress button and got out of the vehicle.

Ms Tan said the passenger also stepped out and allegedly started to attack the driver and then got into the taxi and drove off.

She said the driver was injured and sought medical attention at the hospital.

ConfortDelGro is assisting him, as well as the police in their investigations.

It's understood that the China national was slightly injured on the head and was sent to Changi General Hospital.

Wow the taxi really hit the cleaner and the traffic light with some force. The china man must have been speeding in the taxi

ah tiong siao. even northern prc said their men freeze until all become stupid. hahaha.

PRC terrorism has started. LKY's playground will now be defiled by more acts of PRC. This headline should be titled as PRC attempted terrorism plot to destroy Changi Airport.

Since our state sponsored paparazzi newspapers can put Dr Joe Ong sex photos on the front pages, we can definitely have a picture of the culprit for all to see. We can do it China style since the old man loves PRC so much. Nothing wrong.

I remember someone claiming that Spore is safe:eek:

It's not only about the high crime rate but about the other dangers posed by foreigners:(

I certainly don't feel safe when I'm walking around. Never know if you are going to be run down by some cyclist:eek: Now I've got to be worry about being run down by a motorist:(

Going out to eat also has it's hazards for you never know the hygiene standards of these foreigners. If you think I'm over reacting than why has the gov't found it necessary to have posters showing how to wash one's hands:eek:

A BIG thank you to the 60.14% who made this happen.
4 pitiful children will never get to see their father again.
Will the Pigs charge the Tiong with theft of vehicle , driving without insurance / license , dangerous and reckless driving causing death ?
There should be lots of vacancy in Changi Hotel

"...The victim is Mr Chandra Mogan, who is a Malaysian.

Colleagues said he was the morning supervisor on duty and had worked for the company for at least three years.

His family is in Johor and he has four children, aged between three months and 10 years..."

I hope his insurance payout sets his family good for the rest of their lives... may he rest in peace. We are seeing too many random acts of violence and deaths as of late.

I will probably make a small donation to his family through the papers if they are collecting.

If there is a funeral held here, go straight to them and give them the money. No go betweens. You do not want 20cents out a dollar going to the family.
