We are all Members of Parliament, elected by the peasants.
Ha ha ha, how about the walkovers and free gifts like Tin Pot Ling, who grandmother literally fought against enemies of the regime instead of the Jap invaders during WWII.
That is why all of us as Peasants' Representatives aka Lackeys, even as office holders, make sure we look after our peasants as best as we can during elections. We pretend push the Imperial Court to do more, and accept Ruler Loong as our political patron. We subtly wish away our responsibilities e.g. Vase Teo keeping quiet while Saw run amok. We talk the walk as best as we can. Of course you do not see pious Tan's children waving happily at YOG VIP under the hot sun or rain, as his Messiah says, a man however wicked will not make his son suffer, he rather others' children do the dirty work.
I am pained by the knowledge that I will miss the many moments when my children are growing up and time with family. My parents are not getting any younger. Those moments missed do not return. Ever. In time, I will look back, and there will be gaps. But hey Tan still has his millions mah ha ha. With million peanuts, he can visit Las Vegas KTV and enjoy another kind of worldly joy.
As a Christian, I believe that serving my fellow-peasants is my responsibility and count it as a blessing that I am able to do so.
Farking hell. As a Christian, he is supposed to outlaw bapoks, speak against corrupt dynastic succession along the lines of his holy trinity, set fire to casinos and burn pagans as devil worshipers. Instead he is kowtowing to Ruler Loong?! Typical x'tian, pretend to holy during weekend but worship the Golden Calf during pay day! Does Tan need 1 million peanut stipends to be a good x'tian, not forgetting his messiah's kingdom welcomes the meek and poor? His cell group leader ought to be counting sand on Siloso Beach.
And neither should we play games by competing to see who can proclaim their credentials louder with savvy emotive laden language. Or who is more noble with the cleverer turn of phrase.
His whole speech is pregnant with sinister turns of phrase that will put the Moslem Satan to shame. And yes, he forgot to proclaim, 'I tremble and obey Ruler Loong's decree!'.
