They were born free. They will stay free.
The two birds in the picture are wild birds.
One day a colorful pigeon flew and dashed against my window pane and collapsed. I resuscitated the bird and kept it in a cage and watched it recover.
Three days later another bird, a king fisher, flew into the same window pane and was also knocked out. I also resuscitated the second bird and kept in another cage.
As they recovered I realized that they must be set free as they were born free.
I then penned this poem to remind me of this two birds which came to my garden and gave me a lot of joy.

“They came to me out of nowhere
They were beauties to behold
I could cage them but no
They were born free
They will stay free
My garden friends. ”
