Taiwan is already an independent country :)

No point in arguing with Mr Syed Putra,

He is just a stubborn old man, set in his mental perceptions developed over years of mistakes made BUT REFUSAL to ACKNOWLEGE realities and truths, to correct and progress, only common among the lowly educated masses, and to only BLAME and continue to argue with others with his ability or mental disability in daily consciousness to what his limited mental abilities to grasp information with the space in between his ears thru clouded judgements and beliefs in half truths and conspiracy theories than reliance on science....rather than to face up courageously as Humankind has to deal with daily and for innocent generations to come....

He is not long of Earth, and will eventually leave planet Earth like all mortals, including the insignificant nobody me. His security in living the last legs of his mortal life is in disillusions, a comfort zone that he hopes to spend the rest of his life.

Pity him and let him have his rest, wish him all the best, while the rest of us will have to face and deal with REALITIES, with no stone unturned, to discern the best path forward, not just for us, but for family, relatives, friends, loved ones and for innocent generations to come, to live in Peace, stability, justice, progress, evolution and more, to evolve....

No insult intended, bro Mr, Syed Putra...I wish you and the likes of you all the best....and equally, courage to ALL others Humankind, to stand for the truth and realities, as such are pedestals that NO mortal can destroy, ever....not for the long term for evolution to happen.....

Taiwan has its own passport, its own currency, its own system of government.

There is no need to become something that it already is.

Low IQ Tiongland fantards, please look at the Tiongs being managed like animals by the CCP regime.

Taiwan passport is named: Taiwan/Republic of China
Its own currency is similar to Hong Kong Currency - one country two systems currency
Its own military is none other than 2nd hand toys bought from America flea market.
Its own president, is treated like tourist, if he is allowed into those countries. Not a working head of state.
Its recently build billion dolllars submarine, is just a rubber ducky.
Its army, serves only 1 year and many run away including their officers.
Like Ukraine, Taiwan current govt is also quite corrupted.
Every crucial asset it has, America is allowed to freely take away.

The icing on the cake:
Laws passed in parliament, with opposition majority, is not approved by the current government who is also subordinated to America Institute in Taiwan.

You called Taiwan an independent country?

It is independent nonetheless.
Don't show your ignorance here, US shill.

@syed putra is right. After the KMT retreated to Taiwan in 1949, it still adhered to Sun Yat-sen's Three Principles (三民主义) that the whole of China must be ruled under democratic centralism.

The KMT's position on China was further cemented in the 1992 Consensus:

1. Both Taiwan and the mainland are part of One China
2. There will be no independent Taiwan
3. The One China should be governed by ROC (一中各表, 一個中國各自表述)

Just stick your posts on Fan Bingbing, airhead. Politics is out of your league. LOL.

Your post above is inaccurate and mixes up concepts, timelines, and doctrines. Parts are roughly true in spirit, but several claims are factually wrong.

1. “Democratic centralism” is wrong

False.
After retreating to Taiwan in 1949, the Kuomintang claimed to follow Sun Yat-sen’s Three Principles of the People (三民主义) - nationalism, democracy, people’s livelihood.
Democratic centralism (民主集中制) is a Leninist-Communist doctrine, used by the CCP.
It is not a KMT or Sun Yat-sen concept.

What the KMT actually practiced:
  • Authoritarian one-party rule under “political tutelage” (训政)
  • Justified as a temporary stage toward constitutional democracy
  • In practice, this contradicted Sun’s democratic ideal
So:
  • Ideology: Three Principles - yes
  • Democratic centralism - no

2. KMT position after 1949 - partially correct, but overstated

Partly true, but simplified.

The KMT position from 1949 to the late 1980s was:
  • ROC is the sole legitimate government of all China
  • Taiwan is part of China
  • Mainland China is “temporarily lost” to communists
However:
  • This was a claim of sovereignty, not a concrete or realistic governance plan
  • By the 1970s–1980s, this position weakened as international recognition shifted

3. The “1992 Consensus” section is inaccurate

The description of the 1992 Consensus is incorrectly framed and overstated.

What the 1992 Consensus actually is:

  • An ex post political formula articulated later (not a signed agreement)
  • Core idea: “One China, respective interpretations” (一中各表)
That is all.

What is wrong in @superpower's list:

❌ “There will be no independent Taiwan”

  • Not part of the 1992 Consensus
  • This is a later political position, mainly emphasized by Beijing
  • The KMT historically opposed de jure Taiwan independence, but this is not a term of the Consensus

❌ “One China should be governed by ROC”

  • Not explicitly stated
  • The ROC interpretation is implicit, not agreed by both sides
  • Beijing never accepted “ROC governs China”

⚠️ “Both Taiwan and the mainland are part of One China”

  • Broadly consistent, but vague
  • Each side deliberately did not define what “China” means

Factually correct version:
After retreating to Taiwan in 1949, the Kuomintang continued to claim that the Republic of China was the legitimate government of all China and maintained adherence to Sun Yat-sen’s Three Principles of the People, though in practice it ruled Taiwan under authoritarian one-party control rather than democratic governance.

In 1992, semi-official talks between representatives from Taiwan and the mainland produced what later became known as the “1992 Consensus,” commonly described as an understanding that there is “One China,” while each side is free to interpret what that “China” means (一中各表). The consensus did not address Taiwan independence explicitly nor resolve the question of sovereignty.

You called Taiwan an independent country?

Here are six concrete reasons Taiwan functions as an independent country, regardless of disputed sovereignty claims:
  1. Effective self-rule - Taiwan has its own government that exercises full control over its territory and population, with no PRC involvement.
  2. Separate constitution and legal system - Taiwan operates under the Republic of China Constitution, with independent courts, laws, and enforcement.
  3. Democratic legitimacy - Taiwan holds free, competitive elections and peaceful transfers of power, unlike the PRC system.
  4. Independent military - Taiwan maintains its own armed forces and defense policy, not subordinate to Beijing.
  5. Distinct economy and currency - Taiwan issues its own currency, sets fiscal policy, and trades globally as a separate customs and economic entity.
  6. Independent international operations - Taiwan issues passports, controls immigration, and enters agreements under its own authorities, even when excluded from formal recognition.
Bottom line: by international law criteria of statehood, Taiwan clearly qualifies in practice.

Stop regurgitating news from fake news sources, airhead. The 1992 Consensus is ratified by the UN.

A piece of advice for you: it's better to keep your mouth shut and look stupid than to open your mouth and confirm it. LOL.

You got caught posting fake news and gaslighting other people.
You got caught on Stomp fighting in Sunshine Place food court.
You got caught lying in other threads for saying perverted Japanese parents sleep with their children.
And you want to tell others what to do?

LOL

By your logic, Texas, California and all other states of America should declare independence. Each states have their own rules and policies, and police that are completely different from other states. California can sustain on its own, economically, without needing the central government's control. Texas, rightfully, is part of Mexico territory. In fact, America now believe Canada is part of its states and so is Greenland. All these small powerless countries (Ukraine included) is just part of the chess and not the main player. Taiwan has no say in the bigger scheme of thing.

All big fonts and flowery statements with no substance or truth underpinning it. What's new?

China should give Taiwan to the KMT as a just reward for fighting hard and holding out for eventual victory against the Japanese invasion ww2. the CCP evaded the Japanese army for 8 years and rarely fought a decent battle back then. the KMT lost most of its best and loyal troops in ww2 and that was one of the main reasons for the CCP victory in China 1949.
