"Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times."
~Isaiah 14:31 (King James Version)

"Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou art melted away, O Philistia, all of thee; for there cometh a smoke out of the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks."
~Isaisah 14:31 (American Standard Version)

Basically, Palestina* was part of southern Canaan where the Philistines lived. The KJV uses 'Palestina', while most modern English versions use 'Philistia'. The English translation of the Aramaic Bible uses 'Palestine'.

When the Brits defeated the Ottomans and took over the area, they named it British Palestine, since that's always been the English transliteration of the ancient name.

*Also known in Egyptian as Purusati, in Assyrian as Palastu, and in the Hebrew Bible as Peleshet.

The other question is when the Jews entered Israel under the British mandate and when the Ottoman Empire fell....were those lands unoccupied? Or flooded with Arabs?was it like when singkieland was founded by the poms? Just a few m&ds occupying the island?
3000 years bc the lands already occupied by the Jews. After 2nd WW the lands were jointly administered by Jordan and Egypt, not belonging to Palestinians. In between these periods saw the ups and downs of the Jewish population.

Romans conquered Palastine 3,000 years back and the Jews fled to the Arab countries. The question then is do the Jews still own those lands?
It is just like you bet and lost, can you still claim what you lost as your property?
I think it's not 3000 years.

Egypt controlled Gaza and Jordan the West Bank. The rest was under British mandate.

Phoenicians trace their origins to Greece, a European country. So that makes the arab moslem palestinians descendants of European settlers.

Abstract

The genetic profile of Palestinians has, for the first time, been studied by using human leukocyte antigen (HLA) gene variability and haplotypes. The comparison with other Mediterranean populations by using neighbor-joining dendrograms and correspondence analyses reveal that Palestinians are genetically very close to Jews and other Middle East populations, including Turks (Anatolians), Lebanese, Egyptians, Armenians, and Iranians. Archaeologic and genetic data support that both Jews and Palestinians came from the ancient Canaanites, who extensively mixed with Egyptians, Mesopotamian, and Anatolian peoples in ancient times. Thus, Palestinian-Jewish rivalry is based in cultural and religious, but not in genetic, differences

Have you heard the one about the late Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat sitting down to negotiate dividing up the Land?

“Let me begin with a biblical tale,” says Sharon. “Before the Israelites came to the Promised Land and settled here, Moses led them for 40 years through the desert. One day, miraculously, a stream appeared. They drank and then decided to bathe. When Moses came out of the water, he found all his clothes missing. ‘Who took my clothes?’ Moses asked. ‘It was the Palestinians,’ replied the Israelites.”

“Wait a minute,” interrupted Arafat. “There were no Palestinians during the time of Moses!”

“All right,” smirked Sharon, “now that we’ve got that settled, let’s start talking!”

Your moslems disagree. They said that Jews more mostly Europeans. You're just quoting stuff for the sake of arguing.

Let's strictly follow the Bible. Who exactly did God gave the promised land to? Abram and his offsprings. Technically, it's by gene not religion. Let's say over the years, some of the decendents converted into Christian or Muslim, are they still God's chosen people?
Can a Chinese Jews with no relation to the Abram's family consider himself as God's chosen people?

it’s all about the y-chromosome of the 2nd son. isaac was a 2nd son, so was jacob. ishmael the 1st born was banished and so was esau. if you’re from a chink mom and descended from a jewish pop with the y-chromosome going back to jacob’s 12 male descendants you’ll be considered a rightful israelite. “israel” and “judah” are confined to the 12 tribes from jacob’s y-chromosome. male descendants of ishmael and esau are not considered israelites although they are cousins and have y-chromosomes of abraham. esau’s descendants lagi mysterious. all blended into middle eastern ethnicities although esau was 1st son of isaac.
