Why do you need to bash pastors ?
The public tends to be far more lenient toward a profession that claims to offer eternal life than toward those that deliver justice or safeguard health. The former demands little formal qualification, while the latter requires years of rigorous training—four years at an accredited university and an additional year of professional preparation for law, and five years of university education followed by a year of housemanship for medicine. Both of these professions are also bound by professional indemnity and malpractice insurance, respectively.

I don’t consider pastoral work to be a legitimate profession.

Excerpts from @Flibbertigibbet 's story:

At last he spoke.

“I think… I’m beginning to understand why the false pastors spread their message so quickly—and so far.”

His voice was slow, thoughtful.

“It’s not just their numbers. It’s not simply that there are more of them.” He shook his head slightly. “They understand people. They understand weakness.”

Joe lifted his eyes.

“They know how to touch the deepest longing in the human heart—the desire to succeed, to prosper, to believe that life will reward us if we only try hard enough.”

He exhaled softly.

“So they create a god who serves those desires. A god who can be persuaded… even bargained with. Give 10%, show enough faith, and heaven itself will move to grant your ambitions.”
