SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has announced that there will be a review of the Sustainable Singapore Blueprint.

The blueprint, which was launched in 2009, outlines strategies to achieve twin objectives of economic growth and a good living environment.

PM Lee said the blueprint will be updated with new initiatives, like building more environmentally-friendly hawker centres and reducing carbon emissions.

He provided this update at the launch of the year-long Clean and Green 2014 campaign.
The aim is to complete the review next year.

Mr Lee said that steady progress has been made towards the goals outlined in the current blueprint.
For example, recycling rates have been increasing and more people are using energy-efficient appliances.
There is also greater consciousness among the public on green issues.
