Update: The 40-year-old man believed to be involved in a series of cat-abuse cases in Yishun has been charged in court on Tuesday.
Lee Wai Leong is accused of throwing a cat from the 13th floor of Block 115B in Yishun Ring Road on the morning of Oct 30, Channel NewsAsia reported. It also said that the cat died.
The Straits Times said that Lee is the first person to be charged under the new Animals and Birds Act, which was amended last year to toughen penalties against those convicted of animal cruelty. Lee did not enter a plea, it said.
Lee has been remanded for two weeks for psychiatric assessment at the Institute of Mental Health, the English daily said.
