Sometimes, people say a question is stupid because they don't know the answer (perhaps they are stupid) or they don't have time to deal with it (perhaps the person asking is their subordinate or child) or just to put down the person asking.

My reply to that would be "You say stupid means stupid huh? How we know you are not the stupid one?"
Of course, that would also depend on who said the question is stupid.
