A Stomp reader, Yong, was appalled to find a cockroach floating in his soup at an eatery.

According to Yong, the staff were unapologetic and explained that situations like these can't be helped because the kitchen is always busy.

Yong also said that the waiter tried to dispose of the soup before he could take a picture.

In an email to the citizen journalism site, Yong wrote:

"On 29 June, I took my wife and daughter to Blk 177 Bukit Batok West ave 8 Shen Ji Seafood for dinner.

"To my horror, I found a dead cockroach floating in the soup with all six legs intact.

"I yelled that there's a cockroach in the soup.

"Immediately the waitress snatched the bowl of soup away and said 'Pai seh Pai seh (Sorry) kitchen too busy, accident only,' without a sign of remorse as they cleared away the evidence.

"This is absolutely unacceptable as we had already consumed the meal.

"Luckily I managed to take a photo before they cleared the evidence."

Yong said that when he complained to the restaurant, they were told not to overreact.

"They explained that such incidents are unpreventable cause the kitchen staff are too busy.

"My wife and I were traumatized and speechless during the incident; my daughter is only 6 months old.

"They did not apologise, instead they blamed us for making a big fuss.

Yong added that they used to be regular patrons of the restaurant as they found it "value for money and good", but their most recent visit would "definitely be our last".

The food is average, their service USED TO be fantastic. BUT ever since they hired some women, their service standard DROPPED TREMENDOUSLY. It is the WORST service I've ever came across.

When that woman suggested that I order 2 of a particular side dish, I told her that it's okay as I'm afraid we cant finish it and if we want more, we will order again. She replied in an unfriendly tone that if I were to order later, I would have to wait a long time. I told her it's okay. So she gave me the unfriendly stare and asked rudely what else do I want.

ok, that aside. Later on, my family wanted more of that side dish so we ordered 1 more and she gave me a stare again.

Next, before you finish ur meal, a woman will come again and again asking you to pay as though you would eat without paying.

THIS IS RIDICULOUS and this kind of service standard is no longer acceptable.

SO, PLEASE DONT VISIT THIS PLACE IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE.

Why should thre be a cockroach in the soup! It`s a damn seafood restaurant!

Cheers!

You wouldn't have this problem if you are not a meat eater.
