Why must most of our "scholars" fly home to SG every term break? Granted that they are rich but do they really miss SG so much? They might as well have gone to NUS

It is not about mixing with Singaporeans. It is about the curriculum and the way of teaching.
And although Singaporeans can identify with their own countrymen, it may not be necessarily true that Singaporeans only hang around with Singaporeans. Groups of Singaporeans also hang out with groups of different nationalities, thus learning about them and their cultures.
I'm not saying all scholars but most of them. And also non-Scholars. In contrast, othe nationalities break free of their circle and mix around. Singaporeans overseas still whine about how they miss this and that or how dirty the country is.

Nothing is wrong with missing home;even the Americans miss home and eat their food overseas. I'm talking about the extreme--heading overseas just for the name of the institution but still clinging on to your mee pok and your SG friends and missing your Jurong Bird Park or Orchard Road. I'm tlaking about not spending time travelling around but taking the next SIA flight back.
