I think the guy with the rifle is an NSF and more likely then not, have no ammo. Unless U are doing guard duty or at the firing range they don't issue ammo. Not sure why that idiot was afraid of some dude with a ascrewdriver though. He can still use the rifle as a weapon and beat the shit out of the other guy

thot years ago there is this looney by name of Dave smuggled a rifle (M16?) So, this mat is nothing compared to Dave LOL

9 years 18 strokes

and after he released from Changi resort, he is booked another stay at Kranji DB is it? I used to hear that after you kenna Changi, you still have to stay at Kranji for your wrongdoings.

and this period of "holiday" not counted as serving NS, so come out liao still must continue to serve?

Yes NS liability still owing.......prison and DB time not counted........i know a few AWOL cases that commit crimes while AWOL......go prison then DB then serve NS then can ROD....oldest i met is a 30+ years old private serving NS but he enlisted years earlier than me.

this happening during crescendo exercise....no live firing....i was in charge of moving the weaponry from storage to base camp.....included close to 1000 M16s for entire battalion....3 x 3 tonners full.
heavily armed Thais soldiers provided security during the convoy as the place was near to burmese border occupied by rebels.
stock take time the armskote fellow realised short of 1 bolt carrier.....thai soldiers told us can buy from outside....figured it was a scam that they kept our item but paid anyways.....saw the replacement was different then realised it was really not one of ours.....painted it black to cover the mistake.....no one was the wiser.

later during exercise some more soldiers lost their firing pins........local purchase for replacements......all hush hush of course.....many were grateful to me for siam DB.

uncle, not that i doubt u but i find it hard to believe. i was a armskoteman during NSF, there are regular FFFs in a year, then there the yearly LRI which all weapons must FFF and missing equipment T loan from other battlions. plus in the event of live firing, then a pre live fire FFF and post live firing FFF. That not "wan tsang" bolt carrier would have fail FFF at the first hurdle. M16 bolt carrier was not painted black but some sort of special coloring. If that rifle was the guy personal "wife" then can be easy trace back to him and will be SID case already.

If IQ can be a mitigating factor for an offence, this mat should get probation.

Being Mat already automatically place him under lower intelligence. If they allow that to be a mitigating factor, our jail will be very empty

With his level of Intelligence in trying to rob a rifle with a screwdriver, I'm impressed that he actually managed to get hold of one.

A screwdriver can be a deadly weapon in the hands of a trained professional killer. It can also be readily concealed, and won't arouse any suspicion.

The dumb idiot looks dumber by the min. He rob the guy at the SOC ground.

A man robbed a full-time national serviceman (NSF) of an assault rifle using a screwdriver.

Mohammad Ridzuan Jamari, 30, a civilian contractor working at Pasir Laba Camp armed himself with a 20cm-long screwdriver when he stole a SAR 21 assault rifle from NSF Kang Tai, 22.

The incident occurred at the standard obstacle course in Pasir Laba Camp in Upper Jurong in May this year.

People nearby apprehended him, and the rifle was not removed from the camp.

He was charged for armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.

A pre-trial conference for the case will be held on July 16.

If convicted of armed robbery, he faces a jail term of up to 10 years and up to six strokes of the cane.

I wonder if the DO (defending officer) will say, but your honor, it's only a screw driver. Let him off.

And who won't laugh in court?

"He was charged for armed robbery with a dangerous weapon."

Screwdriver = dangerous weapon?!?

Knn, like that over half of sg population should be charged for pocession of dangerous weapon.

Hardware shops should also be charged for trading in dangerous weapon.
