Tan Jee Say forms new 'Singaporeans First' political party
Published on May 25, 2014 12:06 PM

Former presidential candidate Tan Jee Say announced on Sunday the formation of a new political party called Singaporeans First.

There are 11 founding members, among them architects, a retired army colonel and other professionals.

Another familiar face is psychiatrist Ang Yong Guan, who together with Mr Tan contested the 2011 General Election on the Singapore Democratic Party (SDP) ticket.

At a press conference to unveil the new party and its logo, Mr Tan, 60, said his party will champion policies to build a fair society, strong families and an esteemed people, to create a "new narrative" for Singapore which focuses on not treating citizens as economic digits and offers a lot more social support and safety nets.

Is this a subset of PAP? PAP has always been putting Singaporean first so what am I missing here?

ahahahaahaha....wtf.....is this even go thru it will just tell the world that singapore is fucked up and PAP is losing its grip lol.

I will vote for him behind WP,,however which seats he will contest? West Coast?

notice the logo is not infinite .the red line end somewhere and does not continue.bad omen.
if interpret as red line start from love and care, the red line ended in the uncertainty.
if interpret as red line started from uncertainty and ended with love and care, the love is not infinite. it care still ended somewhere

Yeah Logo very important,,,look at the PAP logo,,,its good that is why it last so long,,look at WP logo,,hammer within a circle means its constrained within the circle,,,for PAP is lightning burst out of circle so its not constrained,,,,

Pappies putting sinkies first? How first is first?

PRs foreigners are almost on same level as sinkies. They can buy HDB flats, get jobs, get fare concession in public transport, no NS, bring in dependants, etc. Better still, they can leave SG at any time with bags full of CPF $$$ and retire rich in their home land. Sinkies will have to slog until hand in IC and still cannot touch the minimum sum in CPF.

My guess either one of these-
AMK GRC (ragtag team from RP too weak and unlikely RP will have the resources to field a team here. fighting against PM help to establish their branding with opposition supporters)
TP GRC (uncontested so no party is on a high moral ground to lay claim here)
HBT GRC (2 of them previously contested there under SDP, ground covered previously can be brought forward)

Almost same - but Singaporean still first. Most Singaporeans get to apply and guarantee an HDB unit, pay lower school fees, and there are concessions given to NS men whether how meaningful you may agree or not agree with.

This is most likely going the Pauline Hanson way and I can see it will milk out some votes from dissent people - but I treat it with suspect and how this will bring us higher or stronger?

The pappies' logo means the lightning will strike you dead if you are not within their circle. Sinkies will die if they are not pappies' circle of supporters.

Horrors upon horrors... the Singapore version of Winston Peters.

The country is going down the tubes after all!

[NZ First party history] 14: The Anti-immigration surge

Prior to New Zealand First moving right-wards in its economic policy during 1996, it also began to give more emphasis to the more socially conservative or right-wing policies and stances it held. In particular, Winston Peters revitalised NZ First’s electoral prospects in early 1996 by opening up a debate about immigration with his views that the number of immigrants to New Zealand needed to be further restricted. The strategy began on February 1 when Peters gave a State of Nation speech in which he called for immigration to be ‘cut to the bone’. Two weeks later Peters upped the ante in the campaign with a strong speech in Howick. Immigrants to New Zealand, Peters proposed should be limited in number to ten thousand per annum. Immediately, NZ First’s opinion poll support surged, and by April it had reached 29% – easily beating both Labour and the Alliance into third and fourth place.

NZ First’s stance was a thinly disguised attack on immigrants and in particular on Asian immigrants.
Peters blamed immigrants for everything from ‘placing a significant strain on education and health services’ to causing high home mortgage rates (Peters quoted in Geddis, 24 June 1996). Peters’ advisor Terry Heffernan attempted to dispute the charge of racism etc by saying: ’We are not anti-immigrant. We are pro-New Zealand’ (quoted in James, 17 Nov 1995: p.17).

Sounds familiar doesn't it. :D

add a sickle to the hammer and you get a soviet-era commie symbol. the new worker of today spends more time on a keyboard than hammering away. in geylang and orchard towers, the worker doesn't need any tools nor hardware, just bare hands stroking human hardness. :D
