StanChart to cut about 7,800 jobs by 2030 as AI usage increases

Economic recession cumming?
Singapore COE still rising
Property prices still rising
The govt must return power to the bidders. During the early years of the COE system, buyers had to bid for COEs on their own. There were no dealers involved. If buyers wanted to bid $10,000 for example, I have to pay $5,000. If successful, the balance has to be topped up to obtain the COE. With that certificate, I will then proceed to purchase my car from the dealer.

Our overpaid politicians are still "monitoring" the runaway rents as yet another company relocates overseas.

Demeaning': Halimah Yacob calls out StanChart CEO for describing workers as 'lower-value human capital' in redundancy plan

“Workers are human beings with families, not just a form of capital.”

For decades, the PAP's national strategy has prioritised continuous economic growth, global competitiveness and robust infrastructure. This relentless focus on the economic pie has led to policies that heavily favour corporate growth over the welfare of S'poreans. The result is contributing to high cost of living and wealth inequality; the rich (the ruling party politicians and their cronies) just get richer.

Meta layoffs + AI push, anyone else feel like job stability isn’t the same anymore?

Seeing more companies doing layoffs recently and it just made me think about how things feel in the job market lately.
Not just tech, but across different industries too. Some roles get changed or cut as companies push for “AI optimisation” and efficiency. Anyone else feeling it too?
From what I see at work, parts of what we do can feel like they could be automated, but a lot still comes down to execution, judgment, and context.
I know layoffs are part of the cycle and hiring still continues across industries, so opportunities are definitely still there. But seeing news like this can still make the overall job market feel a bit more uncertain.
Curious what industry or role you’re in, and whether this makes you more inclined to upskill in your current role, consider a career switch that feels more “stable”, or if your current work environment is not really affected by it?

When they fire will they check if u had serve the sinkie ns? Tiagong, tiongs military peo has alot of privileges over the normal tiongs citizens!

It’s natural to feel uncertain when seeing continuous news about layoffs across different sectors. Even though we know it's an economic cycle, it is of grave concern. From what I’ve observed, the industries that feel stable aren't the ones avoiding AI, but rather the ones where human execution is their core mission i.e. like in healthcare, essential services and community-centric organisations. I believe in doubling down on my current domain expertise while refining my soft skills. Tech may change fast, but leading, adapting and managing complex internal transitions are skills that are recession and AI-proof.

see how all the PAP voting families go for their June school holidays. see if still go in peace???

saw in HWZ.....someone said got ppl in SCB just bought a resale condo. 2mil.

next wave...all jobs gone, banking, finance, IT, AI all kena.

the condo loans cannot sustain, massive condo property selloff leading to property meltdown here.

war in middle east should restart again.
i want to see all the PAP 65% voters all kena 5Ds.

death
divorce
debts
destitution
