S'pore is throwing money at anything to generate international media attention on YOG. I wonder has Manny's bill being included in the $390 million or it be an addition to it?

MANILA, Philippines – The Singapore government will give Filipino boxing icon Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao a welcome fit for a king when he visits Singapore today.

Singapore will roll out the red carpet for Pacquiao who will visit Singapore for the first time. Pacquiao, a seven-division world-boxing champion, has won the hearts of Singaporeans who are boxing aficionados.

“We’re very excited to have Manny with us. He’s such a boxing hero not just in the Philippines but in Asia and we are very proud of him. He will be given a full welcome. We are very proud to have Manny come to our country,” Lynelle Seow of the Singapore Tourism Board told The STAR yesterday.

Seow said this is the first time that Singapore has invited a government official and they chose Pacquiao.

To make his stay memorable, Pacquiao will be billeted at a five-star hotel, Marina Bay Sands, will have lunch and dinner in a top Singaporean restaurants, ride the iconic Singapore Flyer and visit the Resorts World Sentosa and Universal Studios Singapore where he will shoot an episode for his GMA comedy show “Show me da Manny.” He will also join the Hippo bus tour.

“We’re very happy to show Manny our culture, our food. We will let him eat our chili crab, cereal prawn, we hope he’ll like it,” she said.

A highlight will be a meet and greet with the Singaporean youth pugilists and the members of the Singapore Boxing Federation.

You know the YOG is screwed when Michael Phelps, Usian Bolt and Sean Kingston distance themselves from it. And now, you have to pay a boxer to promote it.

Watch the Pinoys here go crazy over the Pacman. This will only piss off Singaporeans even more. Well done PAP! :D

Fans of Manny Pacquiao will know that he usually travel with a huge entourage which includes his family, relatives and friends. I don't think he will be interested to come to promote our YOG if he got to pay for his entourage stay in Singapore, so my guess is that the S'pore Govt has agreed to pay everything just to get this champion boxer to step onto our shore in the absence of Bolt and Phelps.

I don't think many Singaporeans interested also. I think many Singaporeans think manny pacquiao means buy many packs of playing cards from 7-11.

Why you only like angmoh or Orh Pey athletes? Why can't we welcome a Pinoy or Asian athlete? Is he no better than others in his sports?

Manny Pacquiao has the face of a typical toilet cleaner or street sweeper

Good job. Our government has shown once again, they have the guts to bully our countrymen but becomes the spineless bootlicker when it comes to foreigners.

Since they have so much money, why don't fly Britney Spears and Lady Gaga over? Knn spend money on this little featherweight boxer. :oIo:
