One of Australia’s most popular car companies has flown the white flag and given in to China’s rapidly growing dominance of the auto world.

Hyundai has confirmed its Elexio EV is coming to Australia early next year; a mid-size SUV developed under the Korean brand’s “In China, For China, To Global” strategy.

This makes Hyundai the latest mainstream car maker to lean on a Chinese alliance to supply Aussies with EVs.


Last week Mazda confirmed its China-developed 6e electric sedan was Australia-bound, while Hyundai’s sister brand Kia already sells its EV5 SUV here, which hails from Kia’s Yancheng plant in Jiangsu Province.
