Last month, Mohammad Ridzuan Jamari, 30, robbed a full-time national serviceman (NSF) of a SAR-21 assault rifle while in Pasir Laba Camp. NSF Kang Tai, 21, gave up his SAR 21 rifle without a fight when threaten with a…screwdriver?

WTF? A screwdriver? Whatever happened to “your rifle is your wife”, or “do not lose your rifle no matter what”? A 20cm-long screwdriver? He gave up when faced with a 20cm screwdriver? I don’t care if the rifle wasn’t loaded, that he don’t have any bullets, that he never sign up for the SAF, or that the idiot never got out of the camp with the rifle; you do NOT give up your rifle! Especially when the other guy has nothing but a bloody screwdriver! If it was a knife, it still would be bad, but at least that will be understandable. A screwdriver?

What’s worse is that this NSF was actually praised by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) for “diffusing a potentially violent conflict”. WTF is the SAF coming to? If this would have happened when I was in the SAF, this NSF would have been crucified for giving up his rifle without a fight!

AND THAT'S THE WAY IT SHOULD BE! What a sorry joke of an armed forces we have when we praise soldiers for giving up their rifles when threaten with a screwdriver?

According to brainwashed Singaporeans, NS turns boys into men. :D

NSFs are forced into conscription. This guy did the right thing. He just wants to finish NS with the least of trouble. Why act like a hero for something he is forced to be in?

If we go to war one day, lets all just surrender our rifles to our enemies to avoid a potentially violent conflict.. :D

I follow the brilliant example set by LKY.
I work for the enemy as a translator so I can eat better and live better

I am forever grateful and indebted to SAF for teaching me how to 'Keng' and COC no. 7 which is "You can do anything, just don't get caught.".

These lessons turn out to be life long survival tools.

BRILLIANT!!! we love peace!!!

This could be the reason why neighbouring countries spend relatively very little on their defence budget.

We already kenna invaded and made 4th class citizens and slaves to high priced 99 year leases leow......fight what:confused:

NS is a ritualized and highly propagandized national rite of passage, a state-sanctioned test and mark of manhood.

I have to thank NS though, for opening my eyes to the shit that's going on behind the scenes.
Otherwise, I would be just as ignorant about conscription as most of the womenfolk and foreigners.
Most of them get their impression of the SAF from glossy magazines and tv recruitment ads.

Or we could point our weapons towards our domestic oppressors.

Of course, both scenarios assume that people will actually turn up in camps to draw their weapons.

Ya same for the security guards in your office, condo, shopping mall or wherever....dun expect them to be hero when something happens....not worth the risk

The NSF was praised for surrendering his rifle? Lim Beh kena tekan and confinement during my BMT when i "lost" my M16 decades ago. Chee bye!

Safety first mah. NSF's personal safety was under threat. A robbed rifle can be retrieved. A dead NSF = hentak kaki regular officers.

Thinking soldier. 3G SAF. NSFs are not obliged to put their lives at risk to prevent the robbery of some silly guns.

Can only agree 50% with you. :D

This soldier should be praised...A soldier should only sacrifice his life for the country and not for a screwdriver !

Words have got out!
Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and all neighbours eyeing on the prosperous Singapore has begun arming their armies with screwdrivers!

Singapore can cease to exist overnight and those three countries will still carry on quite nicely.

However, should any one of those three countries cease to exist overnight, Singapore is fucked.

Ignorance is bliss for those 'Majulah Singapura' patriots.
