Half of the country pop will soon be FTs or PRs who r still citizens of their home countries. If there is conflict between Spore and their home countries, what is the status of these people if they r still in Spore?? Say, if Spore and Malaysia fight, then my Malaysians colleagues and neighbours how?? R we suppose to fight them too?? In fact many of Sporeans r now working under FT bosses now in Spore. If there is war, can they still call the shots (no pun intended)!

Why so pessimistic. Malaysian in Singapore are mostly hokkien, Hakka, teow chiew, cantonese, foo chows blood brothers as their sinkie counterpart. Even the food they eat is similar.

The situation now is no different from the era in which our parents and grandparents grew up.

They were the FTs of the early to mid 20th century and many of the Chinese immigrants were loyal to the motherland while the Indian immigrants roughed it out in Singapore so they could save up enough to buy some cows and a piece of land back in India.

As far as they were concerned, Singapore was nothing more than a foreign outpost where they could earn a living before they went home.

Half a century later, history is repeating itself and the same questions that were asked before are being asked again.

Nobody has the answer but the difference now is that we don't have another LKY to take us forward so the chances of Singapore surviving as a nation don't look promising.

Only time will tell.

what kind of fucked up history lesson is this Sam? During the time period that you speak off, the place is owned and controlled by the British as a colony. They have no vested interest in singapore other than to milk it for all they can in order to add to the imperial coffers. They let in all the Chinese and Indian FTs so they can make money off their backs in the rubber plantations, railways, etc. and whatever else they had. The British colonial masters were not born here, have no vested interest other then money, and were just here to exploit. The PAP on the other hand claimed to have fought for independence from the colonial masters. They are claiming to be patriotic singaporeans born here and grew up here. Yet, these assholes are allowing history to repeat itself as you said and allow a second wave of FTs from China and India. They are behaving just like the British colonial masters who did not care what their FT influx would do the the original malay population, just like the PAP don't care what this policy does to the native singaporean population.

Its call 5th column, stupid. There are many examples of how an influx of FTs unbalanced the local population so much that actual violence and civil war broke out. Fiji is one example, where snakeskins tried to take over the country from the native Fijians. Jordan is another example where Palestinians tried to annex parts of the Hashemite Kingdom.

It depends on whether the leadership have balls or not. Lets say the leadership actually has balls, and that the war actually breaks out between the 2 countries. Several things will happen right away. That includes the border being closed and the water being cut off and what not. Just this act alone will starve singapore and put us on water rationing even before a shot is fired. If the PAP really has balls, they will close the border and round up all the hundreds of thousands of malaysian passport holders, those working, studying, living in, married to sinkies, and herd them all into the football stadiums, and inform Malaysia that all will be executed if even one shot is fired against singapore. That will mean malaysia will suffer a couple of hundred thousand casualties before they even cross the causeway. They dared to do it or not? PAP dare to do this or not?.

Singapore's military doctrine is aimed primarily at our two largest neighbours, who are both our greatest friends and greatest potential threats. We aim to outnumber and outgun them, and taking a leaf from the Israeli doctrine, bring the fight to them instead of fighting at our borders. It's a huge step forward, as compared to our doctrine of the past of holding out for about a week, while begging US and UN to send military aid.
