Thousands of tons of subsidised fuel are smuggled out everyday. Reason why RM is weak is due to RM80 bil cost of subsidies last year alone.
Even the baht strengthen by 40% v the RM since thailand abolish fuel subsidies.
The malay gomen too scared of malay rural voters to do the same.
If they had done do, appreciation of the RM may mitigate the effect of high fuel prices. And reduce overall inflation.
