After the fake doctor fiasco, we now find that apparently, its the SMC's custom not to even do a rudimentary google search on doctors applying to renew their licenses. What the fuck? If they had done so in the case of this Dr, Winston Lee, they would have found out that he was arrested before.

SINGAPORE: A 72-year-old doctor who is currently serving a 10-month jail term for molesting a female patient has been fined for lying to the Singapore Medical Council (SMC).
Winston Lee Siew Boon was convicted in the State Courts in March 2014 of molesting the victim in his Bukit Batok clinic on two separate occasions.
On Tuesday (Jan 12), Lee pleaded guilty to knowingly making a false declaration to the SMC on Jul 23, 2013, stating that he was not being investigated by the police, so that he could renew his practising licence. In fact, Lee had been the subject of a police investigation since November 2011 and was arrested in April 2013 to face two counts of outrage of modesty.
The SMC realised Lee had lied when media reports surfaced of him being charged.
Lee’s lawyer Charles Lin said his client had “made an error” when filling up the application form, as he was facing “very trying personal circumstances” at the time. Lee had been “shocked and surprised” at his patient’s molest allegations, and “strongly believed in his innocence”.
Mr Lin said Lee “was not trying to hide the fact that he was being investigated” by police when he made the false declaration to the SMC. He did so because he “firmly believed that the (Attorney-General’s Chambers) would be compounding the charges of molest and the investigations would end there”, Mr Lin told the court.
Lee is expected to face an SMC disciplinary committee and is likely to be fined S$10,000, Mr Lin said, urging the court to impose a fine of S$2,000. Ministry of Health prosecutor Andre Moses Tan had pressed for a fine of S$4,000 for Lee.
Lee will also have to bear legal costs from the disciplinary proceedings by SMC, which could amount to S$15,000 to S$20,000, Mr Lin said, adding that “the current proceedings will not be the only punishment that Dr Lee will have to face for this false declaration charge”.
In ordering Lee to pay a fine of S$3,000, District Judge Chay Yuen Fatt agreed with Mr Tan that Lee’s false declaration, while serious, did not put the safety of his patients at risk, “unlike if the case had involved a person who had no formal medical training and experience”. Lee has been a registered medical practitioner with the SMC since 1970.
