Who asked the British and Dutch to come here. Nobody. They just decided to invest their excess capital and power here. Who asked the Chinese to come here? Nobody too. They just decided that there was a better chance of survival here than China. Most of them came with nothing. What do you expect? The British and Dutch to build posh Chinese clubhouses to welcome them? But yes, they worked their dues and earned their rewards. That's why they can build posh Chinese clubs here themselves. The early Chinese immigrants accepted that there'd be no gain without work, no accumulation of capital without gain. You? Blame and blame over nothing. Did the British and Dutch shortchange the laborious rewards worked for and gained by them? If yes, there'd be no wealthy oversea Chinese families in SEA to begin with. In fact, I believe that your Chinese ancestors were not stupid slaves. If terms and conditions were too unfair and prospects were too bleak, they'd have ran elsewhere long ago.
The foundation was built by the chinese, indian and other migrant descendants for the British and Dutch to enrich themselves. Do you actually think the manpower sent here toiled under sun?? Yes..perhaps. Sun-tanning themselves outside their Nice British/Dutch Clubs (Who built those?) discussing how to legitimise themselves by giving away titles and deeds to the Native Malays while the others learnt how to adapt and survive.
After WW2.. the Brits and pretty much Europe were BROKE (as usual)... overtaken by the rise of America.. and had to exit Asean. Please dun try to tell me they did that out of Altruism. luffable.
