Visiting Killiney Post Office not a pleasant experience any more

I REFER to the report, 'Enjoy a drink or go shopping... at the post office' (Dec 20). I used to enjoy my visits to Killiney Post Office whenever I needed postal services such as sending a letter or parcel or just buying postage stamps. At least three counters were open most of the time.
The post office was spacious and there were ample seats for customers to sit while they waited to be served. Not that I had to wait long before I was served. I usually did not have to wait for more than five minutes. The counter staff were cheerful and efficient.
My visits to Killiney Post Office are no longer pleasant since its transformation. The premises are cramped, with too few seats for too many customers. There are usually only two counters open. The queue is always long, and the average waiting time is at least 15 minutes. And there is only one queue for all types of transactions.
I observe that the counter staff no longer have a cheerful disposition. They look tired and harassed. In my view, they are adversely affected by the noise from the pub next door.
While SingPost strives to keep up with changing times, it should not detract from its core business, which is the provision of postal services with a high standard of service and efficiency.
