You know i noticed one thing is that mediacorp actors are all pretty tall. In fact their height is definitely factored in. Mark lee, terrence chao, elvin ng are all at least 1.75 and above.

chan and li aren't really known for their looks or acting skills though.

I've met many HK actors before. Oh please, don't start accusing me of arrogance again, just frank sharing. I was one of Jackie Chan bodyguards when he came to Singapore. He had his own bodyguards but Singapore didn't allow them to carry firearms. It was just "one night stand" in National Stadium. He was was stout, bulky and muscular. But by height, not taller than 1.7m. Anita Mui was the the tallest. Certainly above 1.7m. In movies, I think they use camera angles and props to adjust heights.

One thing i do admire about the hk scene though is that they let the talent shine thru and not just merely depend on the physical attributes. Look at lau and leung. Mega stars in their own right and not hindered by their lack of height. Chow's star isn't shining as bright as lau's or leung's. Perhaps we can talk about a list of these hk,taiwan stars and their height.

Let's see edison chen isn't that tall but not that short either maybe 1.76. Shaun chen should be at least 1.8. Takeshi kaneshiro should be around 1.75. I suppose most of the Hk stars average 1.75. The shortest one of thems however is erick tseung who acts as a gang leader nowadays probably around 1.57m. Simon yam should be taller than 1.8

One YouTube or site mentioned before that most Cantonese are short people like the neighbouring countries like Vietnam or Cambodia. It happens when you get closer to the equator ? Scandinavians and Koreans are tall people. Northerners are fairer and taller !

The tallest ever I've met (not counting basketball players) was Pierce Brosnan when he was shooting a scene for Mrs. Doubtfire in San Francisco. Definitely above 1.85m. Singapore politicians, I think Teo Chee Hean tallest.

Simon also does some body building so he's supposed to be quite big or at least bigger than the "pretty boy" actors. The HK movie scene does have its pretty boy stars and action stars with each occupying a specific niche.

I guess if you want to talk about size should talk about this guy that mostly acts as the bad guy bolo yeung. He was pretty huge back then and right now and he's above 70

The 175 mark ? I'm too sure whether it was officially a standard mark to differentiate a Chinese northerner from a southerner. The Hmongs mentioned that their forefathers of the nine Li tribes were like Chi You - tall northerners.

Nope and ps the guys i mentioned like tay ping hui, chris lee etc are all southerners. Sure northerns are taller but not all southerns are short. I just put in 1,.75m as something like the height of the average asian man on the street. Along the range of 1.7 to 1.77m
