JOHOR BARU - Police arrested four men, including a Singaporean, suspected of being involved in robberies at two locations here last Wednesday.

In the first incident, police received a report at 2.30am of a robbery in Taman Setia Tropika where two men, armed with parang, broke into a house and held the victim, a Singaporean, at knifepoint.

Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Shariff said the suspects fled with the victim's BMW, RM500 (S$195), a handphone, an ATM card and two passports.

At 6.45am, police received another report in Taman Pelangi of a Singaporean who was robbed by two men, who fled with the victim's car, a laptop, RM3,000, an ATM card, an identity card and a passport.

Following the two cases, police carried out raids in Bandar Dato' Onn, Larkin and Taman Setia Tropika where the four men, aged between 23 and 53, were arrested.

Police also seized three cars reported missing, four handphones, six identity cards belonging to the victims, documents belonging to the victims in Taman Setia Tropika and two credit cards.

"The suspects have been remanded to assist in investigations. We are also investigating whether they are targeting Singaporeans in Johor Baru," said Mokhtar.

In an unrelated case, police seized a revolver and an imitation gun from a man suspected of being involved in the robbery of two petrol stations in Segamat on July 30.

"The suspect was arrested in Segamat on the same day. We found the imitation gun with him and he later took us to a rubber plantation where we seized the revolver."
