To your excellency, Daniel Adelman, Amabassador of USA to Singapore,
I guess that you are probably reading this or else your staff are briefing you on the “pulse” of singapore and what’s ticking.
Well, that’s it, this is Singapore, welcome sir.
We are used to this kind of stuffs for 50 years, it may seem primitive to you when you see what is happening here. As Mr Obama has asked you to interact with “the high and humble”, allow us to introduce ourselves, most of the people in the blogs are the humble, and you can guess who are the high. Boy, are they high, many times higher than your boss, sir.
Take your pick and don’ believe either camps. This is a wonderland here in Singapore, you have to experience it to believe it. Don’t give up!
    Cheers!

hi, the american has all the right to criticise this island as lky is the lapdog of uncle sam bush, so its politically correct for one of obama’s man to criticise us, just remember we are lapdogs of usa.
all our resources(TH, GIC) are poured into all things american at high prices and sold at dismayed prices, so if singaporeans have nothing to criticise about that, then nothing can be said for obama’s point man, get it, we’re his lapdog, just like lky.

    Singapore under FAP “democratic” dominance:
Where 66% of votes can magically translate to over 98% representation in parliament and 100% control of the cabinet.
and the 34% of opposition votes totally marginalized, ignored, ridiculed and mocked at regular intervals by the FAP.
This is the “democracy” FAP is running.

Contrary to what was reported by the Shit Times, I must say that I was not at all pissed off by the US Diplomat’s remarks. In fact I think his intentions are good for Singapore.
It’s just that the only person annoyed by it is probably the same old man who cannot take it when given a taste of his own medicine. And it’s high time that our PAP Govt really take stock of other people’s well-intentioned criticism instead of simply accusing outsiders of meddling in our internal affairs.

Have lost on Sinaporeans guts. They have no guts and they deserved to be bullied. Not only they dun have guts, they dun have a brain too. They are easily fooled when PAP called some politicians racist chauvinist, Singaporean votres agree. When PAP describe them as threatening Hooligans (remember HGomez) SG voters agree. When Gitu says that race is sensitive issue but can loosen up now, many SGs agree with PAP not to let us. SGs deserved to be bullied by PAP because they are really daft and not as harddriving in thinking and acting. Coward Singaporeans. Your supposedly high education had made timid mice. Shame shame. Forget it just leave let Singapore become Nanyangpore.

The US Ambassador, a good mate of President Obama, has found it fit to express things about Singapore in the manner which President Obama would not express better.
Singapore is rightly proud of being the modern nation it is. Yes, some may not like it but we have to praise LKY and his earlier colleagues for their brilliance, guts and dedications in making Singapore admired by many. A Singaporean may take pride in being a Singaporean too but only if the PAP government gives its citizen some measure of respect.
This enforced nanny state which deems that the government meaning the PAP, meaning the father and son can only be right about what’s good for Singapore has allowed this otherwise modern nation an image not unlike the DPRK of Kim Jong Il and son.
True, on the surface, it would seem far fetch to compare the DPRK with Singapore; atrocious a comparison even. And yet this is what makes it so incredible. This need by LKY and son to ensure that they must be obeyed and are not opposed, backed by a Stalin like police and court justice system is hard to fathom. This paranoia carried over from days of threats and penury continues in the mind of LKY. Is it too hard to imagine that fifty years has gone by and we are in an internet world? That we need fear no one or anything as time as proved.
Singapore is no longer a nation without resources. It has one of the world’s great monetary reserve. That it can survived a $58 billion loss without collapsing is a credit to LKY.
So then why is Singapore still not a democracy? Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philipines, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and even Cambodia are democracies. Did having opposition parties, some of whom are atrociously inept, result in these nations collapsing; a scenario painted by LKY to justify perpetual PAP control.
Until LKY get off his paranioa and recognised that the new Singaporeans neither understand nor subscribe to his incessant worries, the repressive policies that would continue to put Singapore backward as a truly developed nation would invite the kind of criticism that makes us shameful as a people.
Or are we misunderstanding him; now that he has all the power and money his family can get, he is reluctant to let go. Would he rather not accept that we want to be proud of our government and our nation as a true democracy like everyone else? Or would he rather we continue to cringe at his presence and remain subjects of a tyrannical state?

”However, the Straits Times article by Jeremy Au Yong titled “I wasn’t criticising S’pore, says US envoy” claimed that “comments he (Adelman) made about Singapore’s political freedom two months ago had annoyed many here.” and “the statement riled many Singaporeans, with some writing in to The Straits Times Forum Page criticising what they saw as an attempt to interfere.”
We should email to David Adelman so as to make it clear to the US envoy that ST article doesnt reflect the true situation on the ground .ST is infact the mouth piece of the PAP .We should take this as an oportunity to express our desire for democracy n human rights ,together with the desire for US to interfere. If we just keep silence ,others might believe that the report in ST are all true .We shouldnt let David Adelman to feel that we are being ungrateful .We cant blame him for distancing himself ,if we ourselve have given him the wrong impression that we do not require his help or being a busbody .
Maybe its now time for DR Chee to gather sporean signature as petition and hand it over to the USA embassy .

    Stop telling lies Straits Times.
All PAP MPs entered parliament through the back-door GRC system or a political system tilted in PAP’s favour.
Singapore definitely needs more competition in the political arena.
    VOTE PAP OUT.

Jeremy, who are those annoyed??? Was it the regular self-select ar@e-licking audience preferred by the political class?. The drums rumbling in cyberspace, to my recollection in TR at least, seems to be of a different tune. Perhaps poor virgin Jeremy wasn’t fully aware that this political masters and their clonies habitually prefer censorship of their political opponents, so he might NOT have receive mailings from those wrote in with contrary views.
Better still, he could take his censored preference of news slant to either China or North Korea where there is definitely a lack of conscience and constant dose of pathological lying of public information. It should, I would solemnly imagine, be well-received and much welcome there.

Straits Times, under their master’s instruction, is good at putting words into Singaporeans mouth. This is considered the highest and most lethal strategy constantly adopted by PAP to make Singaporeans a scapegoat when in fact it is PAP who is peeved and not Singaporeans.

If by ‘many Singaporeans’ the PAP/ST means the likes of Jeffrey Law, Ephraim Loy, Genesis Shen, Wee Shu Min, Lionel De Souza, Ace Kindred Cheong etc then yes, they are right.
When a US diplomat/govt official criticizes the state of politics in Singapore, no action is taken except some mutterings of ‘I disagree’. However, when Chee Soon Juan says the exact same things, he is demonised, black balled and stripped of everything he has.
Isn’t this a corollary of the PAP’s rule of us? Kowtow to the rich and powerful, and tread under its boots the underprivileged, the poor and the dispossessed.
