Before FTs were allowed in, unskilled sinkies were earning ridiculously large salaries because they held employers to ransom. I should know I was working in manufacturing at the time. Many production operators refused overtime unless they were paid meal allowances, shift allowances, transport allowances, 2x pay for working on a public holiday etc. Many ended up taking home more than I did every month.

This still happens in Singapore inspite of all the competing imports. Many Singkies PMETs are so highly paid for doing so little work.

Are you serious? Even with a customer base of 3 or 4 million, that is not small business. One good example is SingTel. Another is Starhub. In fact, small businesses are those which do not need a large population because they have resources to address only a small market. Yes PAP is very stupid.

in Asia, South Korea started the fast paced industrialization in the 1950s. other Asian countries followed suit. LKY would be a big dumbass not to understand the economic situation back then and not went with the flow too.

South Korea's industrialization is much better than Singapore's. Today they have large indigenous industrial giants like Samsung and LG while we are still dependent on MNCs who can move out whenever they want.
