I am very sure if Prophet Muhammad were alive today, he would have pardon everyone. Tats how he convinced the unbelievers (during his life time) thru actions that Islam is a peaceful and compassionate religion.

As for the above episode, its not wise to put up picture of any diety or any object during their meditation, imo.
