THAILAND - A Singaporean navy officer cadet had to be evacuated by the Royal Thai Navy on Sunday after he exhibited stroke-like symptoms while sailing off the waters of Phuket, reported Thai news website Phuket News.

The cadet, Chong Jia Jun, was onboard the RSS Endeavour, a Republic of Singapore Navy Landing Ship Tank on its way home from Myanmar.

The website reported that the Royal Thai Navy had sent out a boat to rescue the Singaporean after receiving a call for assistance from the Singapore warship. It had said that one of its crew members required emergency medical treatment.

The Thai Navy took Midshipman Chong to Dan Sulakakorn pier in Phang Nga, Phuket, where he was taken by ambulance to Phuket International Hospital.

I heard of one reservist unit where the CSM collapsed due to heatstroke during overseas outfield exercise, had to be heli-evacuated to the nearest medical facility.

The big question is why did the RSS Endeavour have to wait for the Thai navy to rescue their cadet? I thought standard equipment included 4 X Brave series fast landing craft. Couldn't they simply launch one with the doctor and the sick cadet to the nearest thai port? This ships is also designed for search and rescue. Imagine a SAR vessel needing to have a rescue done on it. Malu like shit. Really, the SAF and RSN are fuck hopeless. They are lucky the cadet didn't die waiting for the thai navy to get their shit together and pick him up. If his father was Teo Chee Hean, they would have arranged for a helo to land on the Endeavour and pick him up.

If the father was TCH...they would have airlifted him all the way to SINgapore, with medical staff standing by, police escorts...all the way to the hospital....ONLY IF!....

This is so embarrassing. Singaporeans are so weak. Like that how to defend the country?

when u are illegally selling arms to a country like Myanmar under a UN embargo, u cannot just use NOL to ship the weapons there. U must deliver it yourself, mah.
