  The crash happened shortly after 12pm on a straight stretch of Ruatapu Rd, south of the intersection with Shanghai Rd.
  
  The serious crash unit is investigating.
  
  West Coast area prevention Sergeant Andrew Lyes said on Tuesday that it appeared the collision was head-on, but also stressed officers were keeping an "open mind" while the investigation continued.
  
  The road was closed for much of Monday afternoon and evening while the Nelson-based serious crash unit travelled to the scene and to complete an examination.
  
  Singaporean newspaper The Straits Times reported that, Seow had studied chemistry and biochemistry at Nanyang Technological University and graduated in 2013.
  
  He was also previously a chemist at the Singapore branch of pharmaceutical company MSD, it said.

if they were to drive an f-350 with crew-cab they would sure have enough horsepower to overtake a slow moving vehicle. and if they were to fail they could still survive the head-on collision.

Sinkies are not used to driving on wide open long stretches of roads. Hence it is easy for them to misjudge speed and do not take into account crosswind.
