Tourist named as victim of fatal crash near Hokitika on the West Coast

The crash happened shortly after 12pm on a straight stretch of Ruatapu Rd, south of the intersection with Shanghai Rd.
The serious crash unit is investigating.
West Coast area prevention Sergeant Andrew Lyes said on Tuesday that it appeared the collision was head-on, but also stressed officers were keeping an "open mind" while the investigation continued.
The road was closed for much of Monday afternoon and evening while the Nelson-based serious crash unit travelled to the scene and to complete an examination.
Singaporean newspaper The Straits Times reported that, Seow had studied chemistry and biochemistry at Nanyang Technological University and graduated in 2013.
He was also previously a chemist at the Singapore branch of pharmaceutical company MSD, it said.
