[TD="class: msgtxt"][h=2] Singapore vs Taiwan: different reactions to abusive foreigners [/h]
Just compare to the same assault case that happened in Taiwan recently.
A Japanese starlet and her 33 years old, 1.8m tall and martial-art trained Japanese boyfriend brutally assaulted a 55 year old and 1.60m tall Taiwanese taxi driver until the driver had to be hospitalised and is still in a critical condition now.
Immediately, the whole Taiwanese society especially the mass media came out and lambasted the two culprits every day until they have to kneel down and profusely apologize to the victim’s family and the Taiwanese public in the TV including agreeing to take full responsibility for the future livelihood of the victim’s family if the victim is unable to work again.
Many taxi drivers in Taiwan were also allowed to protest publicly against such hooliganistic vicious attack. The Taiwanese Public Prosecutor straight away suggested in the TV that maximum penalty (minimum few years imprisonment) should be imposed for the two Japanese if they are found guilty.
But for a similar case in Singapore in which three cowardly westerners brutally attacked a middle age Singaporean taxi driver and three standby Singaporeans at Suntec City about 2 years ago, not only that prostituting media have been keeping dumb about it all these while but our betraying govt has also simply allowed two of the culprits to simply flee the country to evade charges. Only one of the culprits was charged but he was handed down with only 3 weeks imprisonment.
