We are told that we are the best in this region. Nothing to worry about.....

That our defences are so strong against foreign elements. Penetration impossible!

But what about our telco providers like Singtel, M1 and Starhub?

Go to our own Ubin and your phone line is "captured" by Malaysia's Maxis, etc....

Walk along Marine Parade and there is Indon "invasion" by Telkomsel, Indosat, etc...

The question is "WHY?" Are our defences really safe?

Aren't we an independent country from Malaysia and Indonesia???????

Radio waves do not care about geographical borders or sovereignty, especially of an insignificant speck of land on the world map.

If you're scared shitless at the thought of your conversations getting eavesdropped by evil Muslim countries, go to your nearest SAF camp and borrow some signal sets, so you can communicate securely with your friends.

sinkie providers observe international boundaries and power down their transmitters near the border. malicious, correction malaysius' providers don't.

Actually the power down works in Singapore due to its near circular coastline. Malaysia southern coast line surrounds SIngapore's north and Indonesia linear. They can't power down or their own customers will be out of range. You can use zonal aerials but it means higher cost both fixed and maintenance.

Singapore can power up to grab Singapore handphones but typical of them, it costs money and nothing to do with security. Cheap bastards.

as johor develops and becomes more dense on the southern coastline, smaller cells will be implemented to increase cell density and call capacity. with cell splitting at higher frequencies and lower power, cross border interference will diminish. it's the same problem we face at the border with mexico here. 1st world rf engineers vs. 3rd world engineers.

How much does it cost you calling into Singapore? How about data roaming? What is the cost?
