Singapore subsidised medical care is more expensive than Japan non subsidised medical care. We have been scammed by our own government.

In Singapore, each procedure costs on average S$40,000 (US$29,700), excluding scans and other tests. These costs were covered by insurance.

In Japan, he was charged a total of S$17,000 for the first two procedures, and S$22,000 for the remaining three, which included a total of 10 days of hospitalisation as well as the necessary tests. This means around S$7,000 to S$8,000 per procedure or about five times cheaper than in Singapore.

It is a staggering difference, made all the more puzzling by the fact that the Japanese doctor was internationally recognised as a leader in the field, and the outcome bore this out.

None of this cost in Japan was covered by insurance as the coverage here does not extend to overseas treatment.

Since his son was a foreign patient, it is unlikely he benefited from state subsidies and what he paid must have been close to or higher than the cost of performing the operation in Japan. This means the actual cost in Japan could not be more than S$7,000 a procedure.

What was the cost in Singapore for which he was charged around S$40,000 per procedure?

After subsidies, our medical cost is 3 times more expensive than Japan none subsidise cost

Just buy a international health insurance and you can go to a lot places for treatment.

Singkie as we know are profit making driven decision.

One of my friends who is uninsurable got an heart attack in Singapore. He had a heart attack. He went to TTS and got his treatment. He paid nothing out of pocket.

Cos government has a lot of funding which is not known till you go broke. They will then reveal how much subsidise you can get.

But of course they will decide what are the treatment you can get.

in amerika, once you reach 65 not 69 you get medicare which covers hospitalization (part a) and doctor and clinical visits (part b) for $174.69 per month. if you sign up with either a part c (medicare advantage) from $0 to $69 per month or a supplementary plan that charges an additional premium of up to $169 per month, you get 100% hospitalization and outpatient coverage. some part c offerings cover drugs and dental with $0 premiums. it’s way much better than sinkie medical coverage for seniors. but if you’re below 65 and have no medical insurance either thru employment or obamacare you die your business.

Bro hospital food in America ok ? Got sunny side up and bacon ? Got lunatic patient ?

It's the oldest trick in the book. Mark up the original price very high, then give a little 'discount' or 'subsidy' but hype it up so the low information public laps it up.

The real meaning of government is mind-controlled. They are not charity organization that gives welfare all the time. If people want welfare, they would introduce more ways to tax its citizens.

The whole idea of PAP care is to deter the sick from seeking medical attention.
