All readers know very well, that Singapore has been, and still is a much-favoured destination for ex-plunderers, looters and human-right abusers from around the World. These people come here with their ill-gotten wealth and slowly become part and parcel of our Nation. They stay in expensive districts within Singapore and own expensive yachts, fast cars and limousines.
This "extremely rich ex-politicians" from 3rd World countries who "made" money through corruption, cronyism and nepotism find Singapore an easy destination. Our Immigration laws favour these "criminals" and make them instant citizens.
These people could either be in the shape of bloated overthrown and disgraced former heads of states, their families and retinue of followers or the likes of money-launderers, tax-evaders and criminal mafia lords.
Europe and other truly developed First-World nation will never ever allow these "filthy" breed in their midst for their very presence is considered highly-infectious and a danger to their much-loved citizens. But in Uniquely Singapore a red carpet is often rolled out for them.
I remember ex Thai Colonel Kittickachorn and many other disgraced fellow Thai generals. What about the disgraced Maldivian President? He is still alive and kicking here although in an advanced age.
Scores of other like-minded people came later and settled down here. Many were the Mugabe and Than Shwe-types. Some are still considering coming over here.
Readers may have read recently in the ST about a Pakistani (daughter of the assassinated Punjab Governor) having a house at Sentosa Cove. Where did these money come from? I am sure that it did not grow in their orchards or fall from heaven as God's grace. The same question apply to all those mentioned above.
The spoilt-kids of these rich plunderers, looters and bullies drive (sorry zooooooom) around in expensive Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Testarosas or even Porsches without scant respect for public safety and local traffic rules. They study in expensive schools and dine in superior restaurants. Money is not an issue for they have loads of it and much more trickle in continuously.
I vividly remember Imee Marcos and her brother Bong-Bong were here when their corrupted father Marcos was overthrown. Trihadmojo, Mbak Tutut (children of the Indonesian Super-Thief Suharto) were also ensconced here. They have their properties here. I truly do not know about Tommy Mandala? Many rich Indon Chinese towkays are also here too. One just died here recently. So many ex-army generals who were overthrown after they ordered bloody crack-downs in Thailand are also here. Corrupt Indian politicians have also invested here.
The Killer of Nepal (former prince and son of the deposed Nepali monarch) is also here with his family. I am sure these people are not staying in some 3-room flats.
The Head of Wanita UMNO Sharizat Jalil, who made international news out of the Lembu Controversy also has homes, properties and bank accounts here.
The government, as our appointed security agency is tasked to "jaga" our Nation and possessions and it should always keep us (legal owners) informed about who has came through our main gate instead of keeping mum and allowing these people to stay here on the sly.
It is not long before someone is caught as an overstayer here and at times those "harbouring" such an alien are taken to task and even incarcerated.
Does our "security-guard agency" NOT fear falling into a similar trap and risk loosing its operational licence?
