SINGAPORE - A 31-year-old man appeared in court on Saturday (Feb 17) accused of murdering a friend in Jurong Town Hall Road.
Saravanan Arimuram allegedly killed prime-mover driver Sivakumar Perumal, 43, between 5.30pm and 5.48pm on Thursday.
Police said in a statement that they were alerted at around 5.50pm about an accident involving a prime mover in Jurong Town Hall Road towards Ayer Rajah Expressway .
Three Singaporean men between 18 and 43 years old were then taken to the National University Hospital.
Mr Sivakumar, who suffered injuries to his face and chest, was pronounced dead in hospital about two hours later.
Police said: "Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident is believed to have resulted following a dispute between the deceased and the suspect."
The Straits Times understands that Mr Sivakumar was driving the vehicle when he allegedly got into a scuffle with Saravanan.
Dressed in a bright yellow tank-top with the words "Yellow Ribbon Project" on it, Saravanan kept his eyes closed in the dock as the charge was read out to him on Saturday morning.
He has been remanded at Central Police Division and will be back in court on Feb 23.
Offenders convicted of murder face the death penalty.
