Singapore accepts scholarship applicants

Cebu Daily News First Posted 07:23:00 12/02/2010

The Singapore Embassy is now accepting applications for the Singapore scholarship for school year 2011-2012.

This undergraduate scholarship awarded by the Singapore government is tenable at the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore Management University.

Except for Medicine and Dentistry, all other courses are open to scholars.

Qualified applicants are allowed to take three to four year courses. They can also enjoy return airfare, full tuition fee coverage and a living allowance of Singapore $4,300 (approximately P142,000) per year.

Scholars will be selected based on academic merit, leadership qualities and their potential to contribute to the Philippines’ development.

They are expected to return to contribute to their home countries after graduation.

The scholarship underlines Singapore’s firm belief that human resource development is key to economic development, and that training and education is vital to success in this age of globalization.

Applicants must be Filipino citizens with excellent academic records and a good command of English. They must be in their first or second year college or graduating in high school.

Shortlisted nominees will take the entrance examinations set by Singapore universities.

Nominees will be further shortlisted based on the results of entrance examination and will be interviewed by the representatives of Singapore universities.

Application forms are available at the Singapore Embassy or may be downloaded from website www.mfa.gov.sg/scp.

Filled-up application forms must be submitted to the Singapore Embassy in Manila with the following address: The Technical Cooperation Officer, The Singapore Embassy, No. 505 Rizal Drive, Bonifacio Global City, 1634 Taguig City, Philippines, tel. no. 8569922 local 103.

I like working with Pinoys and Pinays, very helpful, friendly and hardworking. Much better than non-white Singaporeans on the whole.

I thought the foreigh talent suppose to make contribution to Singapore. Yet Singapore investing on foreign talent instead of local. Just like the job credit scheme it apply to both Singaporean and PR. therefore, singapore reserve is used to save the PR job. Isn't foreign talent suppose to create job for singaporean?

Non-white Singaporeans are just Singaporeans that are not white.

philippines IS the land of (shitty = greedy, lazy, slutty & dishonest) maid & prostitutes. pinoy pros swamp angmo countries, like nz & arsetralia! If you ever go to those countries, just check out the adult service listings. They all snatch business away from angmo & prc pros there.

Oh yea, forgot to add this - pinoy = fucking hopeless, latino wannabe asian with the lowest self-esteem.

There is nothing in the conditions that say that they cannot remain in Singapore to pursue their career or marry a Singaporean if they choose to - though preferably they should go back to serve their home country where the needs are greater.

With their talents, they and their children can contribute by enlarging the pool of talents and thereby creating jobs for Singaporeans (how? One simple example : they can attract investors to set up medical centres in Singapore because of available doctors.)

I love being served by Pinay nurses and doctors.

You overestimate them..

Pinoys love the US better than any other country.

If you give them a medical job, 5 years later they will leave for the states
