WP and LTK have been proven right to decline SDA invitation to join in the early 2000s. NSP and SDP have joined but left SDA, what else is left? You want to start another alliance? Malaysian alliances BN and PR can work because there're clearly defined roles, however distastefully racial it still can work politically. In BN, UMNO takes care of Malays, MCA and Gerakan takes care of Chinese, MIC takes care of Indians. In PR, PKR straddles the middle grounds, PAS takes care of Malays and DAP takes care of Chinese. In Singapore, most Malays are distrusting PKMS and the other non-Malay parties are a mish-mash rojak, including PAP and WP.

In Malaysia, there's been true opposition unity, concocted ironically out of racial lines to counter BN dominance and compromising minor side issues toward the common purpose of denying BN 2/3 majority. They achieved it. I was there. Perspective was there. Locke was there. Even Pmonkey was there. We all witnessed it.

In Singapore, we have opposition parties fighting to kill off each other before fighting PAP. WP stays off the mire and minds its own business but there's...sigh...

Not true. WP contested in Kallang Moulmein remember? They don't mind stepping on other opposition parties as well.
