Sometimes we tend to forget that there are some pretty exotic creatures in our water and land.

Bedok Jetty used to be a very good fishing spot to catch those monster stingrays, giant trevally and the occasional sharks.. But the place has been a victim of overfishing with the crowd swelling alot during the weekends.. Anyway I still feel that the boys should practised the catch and release mantra of seasoned anglers.. They should have just released the shark back into the waters.. Big fishes like these are getting rare in our waters.. Few years back, a group of boys caught a similiar shark in the waters of East Coast Beach.. A restaurant owner happened to be near the vicinity and paid the boys few hundred dollars out of his own pocket for the shark.. The best thing is, he did not bought the shark to made into a meal by his Chefs.. Instead he asked the boys to released the Shovel nosed shark back into the waters.. Heard this from a member of a local fishing forum..

They can still be found in the Changi waters near the Changi Naval base.. There are still some hidden gems inside the Changi waters.. A friend of mine caught a 10 kg Garoupa few days back besides the Tanah Merry ferry terminal..

Very true but our boat can't get too close to the Naval base...it's out of bound! I like to get near that area some day to catch some big snappers at nite! Sweet snappers for porridge or steam...shiok is the word!

It's like a zhi-char stall in a kopitiam...4gotten the address but I ate there 2 years ago! The kopitiam is just near the roadside...sorry abt that! Presently, my wife will cook if I brought it home after a fishing trip. So far, I got 3 pieces after so many donkey years of fishing!

I managed to find this old picture on the Internet.. This giant ray weighing more than 120 kg was caught at the Bedok Jetty back in the early 80s by a man now known as the Bedok Jetty Legend.. Till now no known angler at Bedok Jetty has managed to break his record..

Nice one, broZeddy! That's a monster Ray, dun think I can winch it up from the boat!

There's this good secret spot that I would like to share with the bros here who are also into shore fishing.. Its sort of a lagoon near the Changi Exhibition Centre at Aviation Park Road.. Its near to the Changi Cargo Complex.. There's a long breakwater there.. Be careful.. Its very dark during the night and very rocky too.. Its actually out of bounds to the public and there's a Guard post with a guard manning the area .. But the lone security guard there quite boh chup and he would close one eye and allow you to fish if you don't make too much noise.. But look out for the occasional police cars patrolling there.. The lagoon is infested with garoupas ranging from 2 to 10 kgs in weight since there are many rocky spots there.. Don't have to use any heavy sinker.. Just use a big live prawn for your bait.. I have not been to the placefor some time so might be goin there one of these days after my boat fishing trip today..
