We refer to the statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on 12 July 2013.
The various allegations against the integrity of Workers’ Party’s Members of Parliament contained in the statement have already been fully responded to and rejected by the Party, both in and out of Parliament.
Regarding the cleaning of hawker centres, we have put forth the facts as we have found them, based on our own earlier investigations. We defended our position in Parliament on 9 July 2013 with a clear conscience.
This matter has been in the public headlines since late May. We have made our position known both inside and outside Parliament and the relevant documents are already in the public domain, so the public can make its own judgment on the matter. We do not find it productive to continue debating and arguing with the ruling party over this issue.
The Prime Minister referred to the Workers’ Party’s slogan for General Election 2011: “Towards a First World Parliament”. The concept of a First World Parliament is not about the People’s Action Party or the Workers’ Party, but about what Singaporeans want for our country and what they believe is necessary to secure our country’s future.

WP's statement is now out. As I said in my earlier post (before the statement was released), there is nothing further to add. WP has already clarified all allegations, and also committed to fulfilling all its responsibilities under the TC act.

The whole parliamentary debate has been pointless, and a political show that achieves nothing for the residents. No new facts were uncovered, and all accusations made have already been addressed even prior to the parliamentary session.

VB must be screaming that he's unable to have a climax. WP has punctured whatever hopes of a fight that VB was looking forward to, as part of his personal renewal process. Poor fella. Nothing seems to work out for him. Hopefully, he gets back to doing the things that he's paid to do and not monkey around with projects which can be easily managed by department heads. Or, at worse the (still) AWOL NEA CEO.

It might have been advantageous to add a statement saying that the whole issue started with AIM but wasn't addressed if based on the PAP's yardstick, but moreover PAP shifted to other things.

The best way is to solve the impasse is to have the WP put up the Aljunied GRC for election and the PAP to put up the Holland GRC for election. Let the people decide who is honest.

Yet he imports immigrants from mainly from PRC, India and Pinoyland-countries not exactly famous for their integrity.

Integrity so important and yet import millions of people from a country that poison babies for money. He likes them so much that he gives out scholarships liberally to them, helps them with special rental scheme, gives special preparatory classes to prepare them and gives jobs to them over locals. At the end of the day the one awarded a Presidential scholarship did not even take up citizenship!

Its pointless to revisit the AIM issue as PAP had created the hawker issue to shift the blame away.

The next chance to revisit the issue would be in 2016 where the word " integrity" will be the battle cry.

He has not moved too far beyond his own reach.. not like pappies and VB.. cos he knows that if he does.. an openning will be given to his opponent(s).

When size or numbers are what you are up against, you pick the point to attack.. or wait for the right moment.. not hurl useless blows in hopes of landing on a vital point. Don't think that would have been advantageous. That would be stooping to the PAP level. In their statement, they mentioned Pritam's pligarism, and the non-tender of one of the services; they did not mention that the one-month deadline did not allow for a proper tendering process to ensure that nothing cocked-up. Everyone can see that; which is why LKT is pretty confident that he does not need to drag the matter and allow the brothel press to keep screaming lack of intergrity issues every time some MIW says something.

By doing so, they thought they were strengthening their case of WP's lack of intergrity. The effect, instead, the feeling is that people will then connect all the PAP's past incompetences as well. Also as Pritam says in his statement, why drag something 18 months ago and for which he had already apologised and that matter had nothing to do with the current situation under debate. Dragging these two things out show that the PAP is using the issue as a beachhead for other attacks.

The other side effect is that decent people would really not want to accept tea invitations for 2016. Except those in the unions and military who have not much future in their vocations and see the opportunity to huat.

For the moment, yes. But knowing the PAP they will grind on and on. WP needs to take this battle to parliament. If VB is alleging dishonesty he must prove it. Dishonesty is saying what you know to be untrue. WP should simply giving a complete account of the facts in parliament, not to satisfy VB, but to show the public there is nothing to hide. If facts are fragmented the PAP will pick and choose what to focus on and drag things on. By now the WP will have examined the dossier, they need to make sure they comb through it and answer directly. The WP wanted to settle this quietly for all concerned. Since the PAP raised it again, nobody will blame them for addressing it energetically. The public is interested again in this issue, WP should make the most of it. Since VB asked Low to investigate, Low should just do so. I think we also want investigations into a lot of National issues. Since no holds are barred lets talk about the YOG issue again. Clear matter of national interest and competence.

PAP is well-known for playing up petty politics and crying foul. When their leaders committed electoral offences, it was not an integrity issue. Remember they played up james Gomez nomination papers thing and it backfired. Were they men of integrity when they stopped the late Ong Teng Cheong from going too far in his Presidential duties? Did GCT order LKY to be investigated by CPIB for Nassim Jade? Was there anything in Shanmugam's closet? Or Foo Mee Har's?

C'mon, can somebody publish another book on Hard Truths?
